I was just looking around at a new scope for my .30-06 and have kind of landed on the Vortex diamondback in 4-12x with the BDC. I just thought I would check and see peoples experiences/opinions with it.
I have looked at the redfield too, the Vortex seemed crisper and a bit nicer in the store.
Trying to stay around or below the $250 mark.

Thanks

I have a 2-7x35 rimfire and it is an awesome scope. Sadly it's for sale in the EE right now... need money :(

Very nice glass though, quality product and a lifetime warranty. Whats not to like?

I have the exact scope mounted on my .223 and I love it. Well, love is a strong word, but watch out for the short eye relief especially if it's on a 30-06.

I had that exact scope on my .243 coyote rig and the hash marks were dead on out to 500 yards, scope held up for a season and actually held its value quite well when I sold it. No complaints about it, I have since upgraded to a Zeiss Conquest 3.5-10x44 but cost me alot more peanuts to get into this scope. Good bang for your buck if you ask me.

Cheers!!

It's a decent scope, I have the AO version on my .22LR for whacking gophers. Like others have mentioned it does have short eye relief.

It might be worth checking out a Redfield Revolution 4-12x40 or a Sightron SII 3-12x42 they both have a fair bit more eye relief that the Diamondback.

that would be a great starter for your rifle, but if you have a few more dollars to spend it is worth it to go up to the Viper 4-12x40 with the side parallax. More eye relief, nicer turrets, bit better glass and a sleeker package.
Either way it kicks the crap out of a Bushnell 3200 or many other scopes that everyone swears by.
