Opinions on which precision Rifle to purchase (first purchase)

Just a thought, if you are planning on really pushing your rifle far out and you are going to either reload or buy match ammo look into a .260, 6mm, or 6.5mm.

My Accuracy International is a .308 and I really like it. I used to think any other caliber was just a flavor of the month. But there are better rounds out there now for long range shooting and if you are trying to be competitive .308 may handicap you a bit.

Just my opinion and I'm not an expert and maybe that's not a good starting caliber but my next barrel will be a 6.5 CM.

Way over his budget.
At his price point, either a used Rem 700 or a Savage 10 plus a scope is where he's at.

I'd recommend the Savage - it seems like a bit of a tinkerers rifle - which is ok with me. But it's a solid base that leaves cash for a decent mid range scope like a Sightron STAC.
