Has anyone run one of these slides with an RMR or Holosun and able to provide a first hand opinion.

They seem like an excellent value but I am concerned that with no window cut(s) - will the mass of the slide with a Holosun will cause more recoil?

Please don’t come back at me with it’s a 9 and 9mm has little felt recoil - I know - this will be for a backup open glock type gun using a p80 serialized frame.

I have a brownells RMR cut slide with one top window and the recoil is very manageable using an 11 lb spring shooting 9 major (Gun is comped of course and built for 9major).

Many thanks in advance.

I dont have a duty slide but I have 2 of their old windowed dragonfly slides one on a 17 with RMR and one on a 19 with just iron sights

And I just received one of their gen5 G19 ORION slides that although isn't as simple as their duty slides, it has no window cuts. I was setting it up today, I just got some titanium mounting screws and mounted the RMR to the slide today. I would be going to the range to test it by now, but Canada post didnt deliver my new barrel for it today.

One thing about their slide cuts is because they do a dedicated cut, its pretty deep into the slide compared to some other companies cuts. And so you have to take into account that while you are adding a slight amount of weight with an RMR or other red dot. Those are fairly light and made of aluminum, with a little piece of glass and some tiny internal electronics. I didnt weigh it but it feels like the cover plate ZEV includes with the slide actually weighs close to or maybe even less then the RMR. Actually I just weighted the cover plate from ZEV and its 1.09oz while Trijicon states in the specs for my non adjustable RMR being 1.2oz. So were talking about a 0.11oz difference in mass over the slide alone with the cover plate, vs removing the plate and mounting my RMR red dot

Also another thing ZEV does to their slides that other companies don't is that they machine out more material inside their slides that aren't used. So I would not be surprised if the over all weight of one of their non windowed slides with an RMR is still close too or even slightly lighter then a OEM slide.

My slide has a slot like this machined out on the inside, but my particular one is milled out even longer then this example, so even more internal weight removed over a OEM slide

So I brought my OEM Glock 19X slide to work today, and I weighed it VS my new ZEV Orion slide with the RMR and Trijicon suppressor height sights

And I was correct in my assumption, the ZEV slide with the RMR installed weighs less then the OEM slide

Weights are for stripped slides, no barrels no internals other then the channel liners

OEM 19X slide with Trijicon HD night sights 11.92 OZ
ZEV Orion slide with Trijicon RMR and Trijicon suppressor height night sights 10.61 OZ

I will be going to the range tomorrow to try it out, but being lighter I don't think I will notice any difference in recoil
