This bull was shot at 350 yds (just over actually). It was shot with a fast stepping 7mm magnum and he was shot at a steeply quartering on angle. The bullet went nearly through him lengthways and a quick follow up dropped him in his tracks. I could have killed him at point blank range and the results would have been similar. Like I said. If you want to collect a 358 Win be my guest. But you are not filling a necessary niche. I'm sorry if that opinion is offensive to some. But it is what it is.

Nice moose...
This one was shot at 20 yards, with a 500 grain arrow travelling at 280 fps... complete pass through... arrow recovered from a tree 40 yards into the bush on the otherside of the moose... two steps and fell over backward... dead where he was standing when the arrow hit him.
Sometimes I like slow and heavy...

That's a nice bull Hoyt and I respect that it was arrowed but if I ever go moose hunting its rifle all the way. Either 458wm or 50 BP. I'll leave my crossbow for deer. I'm a gunny though hence my bias
Moose is the only big game animal that I have never hunted with a rifle... all of the bulls I have taken were with archery gear... mostly because the prime rut falls during the archery season and I love calling them close.
What do you call them with?...... I have a homemade birch "cone" I have used in the past......... Will have to dig it out for my upcoming hunt....... But curious.....
I have my "lucky" birchbark horn... in the mid-90's, I made it and shot a nice bull an hour later... since then I have taken 10 or 12 bulls with it... but I still make a new one every fall... it is kind of a tradition for my son and I.
