Opinions: Quick detach scope rings/base for Robinson XCR/1913 rail

Hi folks,

I've got a Robinson XCR with an Aimpoint Comp M3 on an A.R.M.S Q/D mount. However I would like to test its accuracy a little harder than the 4 MOA red dot of the aimpoint allows. I have a spare Bushnell 3x9x50 scope just sitting in a box and I would like to have a quick detach mount that is pretty good at holding a zero.

I want to be able to flip back and forth easily between the scope and the aimpoint. The big problem now is finances. I blew my wad (figuratively) on the XCR, aimpoint, mags, 2k ammo, 2 ruger GP 100's and a SIG P220 Elite stainless with 2 extra mags, holster, more ammo, winter shooting gloves and mag pouches all within the last couple of months. I'm financially drained and if my wife figures out what I've done I'll I'm dog meat. I cannot afford to spend $200 on a mount.

I need inexpensive. I'm wondering if I could just get a pair of Burris Zee Quick detachable rings. Anyone have any experience with these? How well do they hold zero. I don't mind a little retuning after each swap, but I don't want to spend all day re-zeroing my mount.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Does anyone else have a similar configuration?
 
I would stick with Larue mounts for aimpoint and 30mm scopes..they are very nice and solid.
 
They are currently out of my price range. They look like $150 US or so, so I'm sure they'll be $200 or so CAN.

I'm guessing that your suggesting that I do without until I can afford better? Also where can I get Larue mounts in Canada?
 
You can't really flip back and forth between optics and maintain zero. Better mounts, such as Larue, will get you close but you likely will never truly return to zero.

Quick release mounts are meant for just that, quick release. IMO, they were never really intended to flip back and forth between two different optics setups.

a better option might be a 1x-4x red dot type CQB scope, that way you have aimpoint like dot and some magnification all rolled into one. IOR makes a nice setup, there are other versions as well. This would mean one permanent mount (cheaper) and just one scope instead of two.
 
Thanks USP, but I'm sold and addicted to my aimpoint. There is no way I would ever get rid of it. I want to keep that one on the rifle. I just want to be able to play with a magnifying scope every once in a while.
 
A larue will keep your zero better than anything out there. With a red dot I doubt you'd notice the shift.
If you're just shooting paper non-competitively you could likely get by with ARMS or whatever, it should only take you a couple shots and a click or two to get back on zero.
I haven't tried the larue SPR mount but I had the acog mount and still have an aimpoint mount, and they hold close enough to be a non issue. Your zero isn't going to be forevermore anyhow.
 
I use the Leupold QD from TSE for about $62 and they work very well on my scoped hunting rifles
- or the Warne QD from Western Gun Parts -- they are about $85 -- I have them on some big bores and they replace neatly and quickly and very very close to zero each time on my scoped rifles.
On my XCR I have my 30mm scope in TSX??? rings with the nice nut to torque down to the rail - it comes off easily with a small socket wrench and goes on just as easily as most QD rings as I find you usually need a little leverage tool with most QD rings --if that is the route you want to go
