My vote goes for syn. The laminate is pretty (ok absolutely georgeous) but I would have a hard time placing it anywhere that isn't matress lined and padded on top of that.

Hawkeye, I see your from Ft St John. I hunted up there several years ago while living in Prince George. One of my favorite places I've ever been to. The amount of game was unreal. Folks from here in the Maritimes wouldn't beleive it. Beautiful part of this country.

What are the price differences, if any? Laminate stocks are the least expensive to make.
Cooper uses a Bell & Carlson Medalist synthetic, which is a pretty decent stock. It has a textured finish, so it's grippy as well.
Maybe one of these days Boyd's will make a laminate for Coopers, I think they're about $120 or so and look like the above, and are available in many other colors, pepper being my favorite.

I like the olive synthetic. The coffee laminate is pleasing but I'd have to echo the thoughts about being a little slippery with no checkering. Fine with bare hands or leather gloves though.
