Once C-42 passes and before the election I intend on purchasing a handgun or 3 but thats my dilemna.

Do I purchase one good one or 3 beaters?
I was thinking CZ SP01 or Comparable Glock/SW/Beretta
Or buying 2-3 Norinco and a Tokarev...

Ive heard lots of good things about the Norinco stuff lately and being honest right now i probably couldnt tell the difference between good and bad and I know i cant shoot worth **** so why worry about it right now.

So would you recommend variety as the spice of life and marry 3 or be a MonoHandgun kinda guy?
 
If you have a problem with your Norinco, where do you send it for warranty work?
A better question might be: does Norinco even warranty their products?
And that is all I have to say about Norinco.
 
Buy several good used ones. After the initial depreciation hit (which someone else has taken), they dont drop much, and you can buy and sell to your hearts content to try different platforms without losing much or any money......

Why wait?
 
depends on our budget. You may be perfectly happy with Norincos. More money buys you a better finish and fitment, not necessarily a more reliable gun. Most new Norcs seem to shoot just fine out of the box. if you buy new guns from Marstar they have a 1 year no questions asked warranty.
Or buy off the EE from sellers with good feedback. In a case that you don't like one you can always resell on the EE and get something else.
For my level of skill the Norcs are good enough.
 
Opinions are like underwear everyone has em and all have trace amounts of....in em.. Go to a store pick a few up. Hold them and see how they fit. Then buy a few used ones elsewear that you liked the feel of.
 
You asked for it so....
Buy the best you can within reason. You will regret less later. I suppose that goes for all products.

Good advice - most used guns are in great condition, just make sure they haven't been messed with (avoid guns with any non-factory parts)
 
I had the same dilemma last year when I started as well.
I chose to spend the money on a good first pistol.
I flipped back and forth for a while, but decided my FIRST would be a 1911.
Then the fun a narrowing it down to the brand/model.
Ended up with a S&W SW1911.

My overall reasoning is your first pistol you'll have the longest, and in theory, put the most rounds through it.

Plus... Your first is special... So get a special one.

I'd worry more about fit and feel for now...hold a bunch...norc's included, and find one ( or several) that feel good and balanced in your hand. Trigger pull is important too so dry fire if you can. Do this, and you'll likely answer your own question...or just buy an M&P and a SAM 1911. (9mm & 45).
 
Well thanks for the input guys. I have been handling a ton of handguns lately just not shooting. I usually prefer to buy new, so used is unlikely on the first at least.

I dont know why but im gravitating towards SW or Glock. but we will see.

This is not necessarily an "either / or" scenario. There are (a few) "and" options where you can buy a quality product at an affordable price. As an example, I think that almost every would agree that Sig Sauer produces a high quality product. At Elwood Epps (forum sponsor), you could buy a Sig P250 for $625 or a Sig SP2022 Sig PRO for $669. Both of these have SIGLITE sights.

True, both of these will cost more than a Norinco knock-off, but you are getting a high quality firearm at an affordable price point.
