I am hopefully going to be dropping some money on a Savage in a .223 for some bench shooting and some shooting from a bipod. Anyways in your honest opinion which one of these 3 models would you choose? The LRPV, BVSS , or FVSS? and for what reasons?

One of the biggest reasons I was looking at the LRPV is the fact its a single shot and can be had in the 1 in 7 twist.

Thanks

FWIW My vote would be the LRPV.

I have the same rifle with the 7 twist. It has the capabilities to reach 1000yards if I want to.

My father used this gun to claim the factory class championship in our local benchrest shoot two years in a row. Definately the best off the shelf factory rifle I've ever been behind.

Mine seems to like 69 gr Sierra Matchkings from 100-300 yards. and for pushing them way out there, The 75gr A-Max are really hard to beat.

If you do choose the 7 twist just be warned that you are somewhat limited to the heavier bullets. Anything under 60gr come apart in flight with mine. The exception so far has been 50gr v-max. This is fine if your a handloader. If you buy factory, this could be a problem. The winchester white box stuff doesn't make it 100 yards out of my barrel.

BVSS over FVSS because of the stock. If you want a single shot and the 7 twist LRPV it is though.
I should have never sold the BVSS in 22.250 I had many moons ago. :(

I just bought a LRPV one 2 weeks ago in 22-250. I have had a few other savage rifles and all shot well, but this LRPV groups about 3MOA with about ten handloads and the 4 factory loads I have tried. I expected alot better since my old 7mag package rifle was a moa rifle. Hopefully something can be done. I Emailed savage to see what we can do.

I like the accutrigger and the stock seems to be pretty good, although the forearm is not as stiff as I expected. The rifle sits well on a bipod or front rest. Some guys don't like the accutrigger but I look at it like a 2 stage trigger pull and like how it works. All in all I like everything but the accuracy of mine.
