Hi guys - not trolling here - looking for a 9mm and I see 3 for sale right now all about the same price - HK USP - CZ SP01 Shadow - Springfield XD 9

So - the HK looks like it is made of plastic - so does the XD
The CZ is made in Czech republic....but looks like steel

Are they all comparable? Any issues with any particular one?
Would any of them be ok for beginner IPSC?

Thanks
Marty

Well just a note...the usp and xd look like plastic because they are polymer guns...

and the cz looks like steel because it IS all steel.

XD is notably different right off the bat because it is striker fired, the other 2 are DA/SA hammer operated...

Of the three, I'd recommend the CZ. It's one of the most popular in IPSC Production Division at the moment, and will sell the fastest if you were to find it is not to your liking.

:nest:i say if they are the same price get the usp they are reliable and accurate. the polymer framed guns are less "sticky" after a couple hundred rounds, steel slide on steel frame is said to get sticky after after a couple hundred rounds. im sure there are plenty of people on here who disagree but whatev im givin you my opinion.

USP

If you can, see what each feels like in your hand. I have a smaller hand and that can cause problems with double stack pistols.

I find the Browning HiPower to be most comfortable for me. I own a SPO1 Shadow and a USP in 40. I soot the USP better because of the trigger, safety and the mag release, YMMV. I like the SP01 a lot and as Cannuck 223 says it will sell if you decide that it is not for you.

A potential icebreaker would be the cost of the mags for each/

Out of those three Shadow is much better suited for IPSC and imho has better ergonomics. It's very accurate, very good trigger, sights, good support with holsters and parts availability.

I Shoot a shadow in production. It is heavy, has decent sights, decent trigger, and lower bore axis than most. However I am sure if someone shot a hungarian feg marginally better than me then he will score slightly better. imho the choice of firearm is fairly insignificant compared to the skill of the user. So all of these guns would be fine for ipsc.

That's prolly the best advice you'll ever get on buying a pistol.

Yup. With that said, I have a smallish hand, too, and I can shoot well enough with the CZ75 frame. The USP's a surprisingly good fit for me, as well. I have equal mechanical confidence in both pistols. Both are made by serious houses, and both have been proven to work. No opinion on the XD, as I've never held one.

Hands-on prior to purchase, if you can swing it, will be worth the effort.

Of the three, I'd recommend the CZ. It's one of the most popular in IPSC Production Division at the moment, and will sell the fastest when you find out it's not very good.

Fixed it for ya. :D..........Never mind - get the HK.

Imho, XD is a very good SD or combat gun. I shot one in .40s&w and it was very pleasant to shoot, accurate too. I'd go with XDm thou if I were to buy one, didn't shoot XDm, only handled one thou.

Of the choices personally I'd go with the CZ.

That's because that's what fits me best.

You should go with what fits you best.

General speaking European know more about steel and CZ line of pistols were proven to be rock solid and reliable at bottom price. Don't know how XD and HK perform in IPSC but there are a lot of top shooters use CZ line of pistol to won the game.

I recommend you look at the cZ as they are excellent pistols. Having said that, you should at least handle all three and select the one that feels best.
