Opportunity to buy Ruger m77, opinions?

I have a M77 in 30-06, handloads @ 100 meters right around 1" Dont get caught up in the hype of the hottest trends ultra mags, blah blah stick to 308,06,7 mag, 300 win all can be bought for 20.00 @ box at CDN tire and any general store In western canada, we went out hunting last season and the only rifle that got anything was an old parker hale 303:)

I originally wanted a 308. This rfle popped up for sale and I was going to pick it up only because I thought it was a good deal but have never been crazy about the 7mm rem. I guess the search for a 308 continues...

Nate this is your First gun?

Why not a 223 REM? Cheap to shoot, fun, and you can shoot them as far as you want. No recoil, not muzzle blast....

Put a few hundred rounds down the tube, flog it on the EE for $300 more than what you paid for it and pick up a nice 308 :D

I have never had any negative issues with my M-77s and my hawkeye.

If there is only one negative coment it would be that they are heavy. But being heavy makes for easy shooting specialy in larger magnums.

They are a solid gun for the price range I enjoy shooting the ones that I own.

I bought a stainless left hand Ruger 77mkII 30-06 about 4 years ago for $750 brand new, so ya, $700 is a really optimistic price. Mine shoots MOA consistantly and I have had it floated and the trigger adjusted down to 3 oz by Barry Jensen at Bits of Pieces in Langley. Shoots like a hot damn and I have yet to load for it.

I have a Ruger 77mkII stainless in 308. GREAT shooter. I don't think you mentioned what you will be shooting. Paper ??? Deer/moose ???

If you are a hunter, then do not worry to much about the Ruger trigger, if your a paper puncher, definitely swap out the trigger.

What happened early on with the Ruger 77 was they sourced out to have barrels made.Ruger replaced them for free when enough people #####ed.Then they began making their own barrels and problems solved......................Harold

Ruger M77

I have a 25/06,30/06, 7 MMag all in Ruger. I handload for all of them and they shoot great . The 7MMag is from 1971 and is still my favorite. If the rifle feels good when you hold it and shoots straight. I don't think you will be disappointed .

Straight Shooting
