Someone asked me today if I hunted Oppossum. Personally that is one critter I haven't eaten from this planet. Anyone ever hunt or eat this? I know its a dish down south, I don't want to know about that. I want to know if ppl around here have.

I've seen quite a few of them along the Niagara River parkway on the Canadian side of the river! Saw my first one there around 1982, shortly before I moved away from there but have seen several on the farm roads out there since then when I go back to hunt with friends. Never eaten one though, pretty vile looking creatures.

Sign me up! Looks delicious!

opossums are very hard on turkey and duck eggs. They also get into the hay and their feces carry a disease that can kill horses and cattle. I kill everyone I see as well around the farm.

never tried to eat them, don't plan on it either lol

I've caught them on my trap line and have sold their pelts. The hide was worth about two dollars (average), hardly worth the effort but I was curious what they would fetch.:(

They are a smelly, and ugly critter. Could not imagine eating one unless I was starving, And I've eaten muskrat and beaver!!... they are nicer looking creatures with less hair..:D

The good news about them is that they do play dead, which makes them easy prey for coyotes and other small game eating preadators, which prolly saves a few rabbits and pheasant or grouse for me to get...

Hit one with the back tire of my ZX6 Ninja once, doing about 160 and it ran right out in front of me, managed to keep upright, hair and blood and crap was all over my sproket, went back and I almost cut it in half lol.

Lucky it didnt kill me!

I would shoot one if I saw it, would probably taste like a racoon lol
