Optic choices for a Beretta 1301 and other "must-do" mods

I have the Primary Arms on mine and love it, as far as recoil reduction, take a look at this. It's what I got on mine.

Regarding the optic, do you have a pic with the PA mounted? I'm curious how low you got it and if you can cowitness. I really like the idea of the etched reticle but can't picture how it sits on the rail. Cheers!

Thanks! Just checked the 507 out and I do like the features. Definitely adding that to the mix. The TOMM mount looks similar to the mount on the Viper SG. Do you lose the ghost ring or are you using a Beretta Comp model?

The 507Comp is nice. I also have astigmatism and even with mine in red it doesn't bloom on me. With the circle/dot reticle you can keep the brightness down and still easy to pick up.

The Tacord mount works perfect and co-witnesses with the factory irons. Their low profile or half ring aperture is a nice addition to, less cluttered sight picture.

With the Vortex Viper you'd loose the rear sight since the mount is so long. Would be a good choice on a 1301 Comp but unless you want rid of the rear sight on a Tac better to go with something else.

It is a bit pricey, but being over 60, I feel I've earned the right LOL.

And if I recall correctly the optic may sit a bit high for a cowitness setup. I never played with that. . I went with the Fab Defense GL Core buttstock with adjustable cheeck riser for that purpose. Here's a couple of pics

Great info. Thanks! Based on your experience, I am leaning towards this as my set up. I read a lot of folks say that green is the way to go with astigmatism but I'm happy the red is working for you.

She's a beaut! Thanks for the pics. That PA sits really nice there and I bet it shoots like a dream. And I hear ya about the stock, I am 60 and all about comfort at this point lol

Holosun 508T on a CROM mount. Works well with astigmatism. Mod2 lifter is a nice addition.

Nice rig! Thanks for the pic. I've never been a big fan of the magpul stock until I saw it on a 1301. It just seems to work here. Optic looks great too. I'm beginning to think the mods are going to set me back as much as the gun lol Which tube extension is that?

Ha, I have several 507 Comps but no Berettas (yet.....)

My M4 had ghost rings and they are good for iron sights but for me a dot is better in every way beyond reliability.

So I finally was able to pull the trigger on a 1301 (shout out to Al Flaherty's) and looking for suggestions on a good optic for it. I have very little experience with red dots and this is my first semi auto shotgun.

I don't have optics on mine, but looking at the Apex Atom red dot. Below is what I have on it to date...

Handguard - Mod2
Pro lifter
TacOrd oversized charging handle

Don't forget to get the pro lifter, if the gun doesn't come equipped with it. 10/10 the most worthwhile upgrade if budget is tight.

Nice tweaks and the Apex red dot looks like a pretty cool design. I got the Mod 2 so GTG with the lifter and I will be all over that handguard as soon as they are available. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks. The mag tude is the Nordic Components. If you go for a Magpul SGA, make sure you get the on for the Moss 590 and not the Rem 870. When I received this gun in had the 870 version which puts the grip a little further from the trigger so it is a little uncomfortable. The Moss grip is also just slightly more vertical which I find perfect. I am probably going to ditch the magpul handguard and go for the MI one. The gun feels very solid and I feel like the Magpul Handguard is the weak link. And yeah, as others have said, Prolifter. Get it.

Try shouldering one with the SGA stock - the looks can be polarising but there is absolutely no denying the performance. I have one on each of my pumps.

OP, I know you have already purchased the shotgun, but if you are going down the full customisation route you should consider just dropping it off at TacOrd for the full treatment. Very fair prices on the components and optic and then you can get feed port chamfering which I absolutely love.
