optic choice's wrong??

You're doubting your choice of optic before you even shoot it? Don't worry about it. Shoot it and develop an opinion of it after spending some time with it, instead of just buying something based on what people tell you. Trying stuff out is part of the fun of this hobby. I'm assuming you're not putting your life on the line for anything, so you have the luxury of test driving whatever you can afford.

Or you can foolishly take my unqualified word (before even trying your optic out), and ditch the Eotech like I did and replace it with an Aimpoint micro.

Could you elaborate more on this Reap... Im using the Eo and I find the quality of materials, glass, weight and price to be exceptional.

Well for starters I had 9 of them fail in my unit in Afghanistan over a 6 month period. At first we figured it was heat affecting the electronics, but turned out the resin used to hold the battery terminals with the casing was disolving in the heat, making the sight useless.Troops resorted to using crazy glue on the battery terminals as a temp fix.
This was further reinforced back home when the same thing happened to one of mine (leaking battery was the cause).
That alone is well worth getting rid of the sight, the lack of attention to detail is enough to make it a 2nd tier at best optic.

The 3 eotechs I have had in the past did not hold zero well and the battery housing design has issues. Aimpoint is the way to go.

I like the 1 moa dot and then the large cirle on the Eotechs. I'm not a big fan of 3 moa dots. I have a 553 that I've been very happy with.

I personally prefer the EoTech, at least as far as the reticle goes. Other then that, I would and have owned both.

I have been using it for three monthes, running it a good 3 hours every time at the range for a good 15 visits, and I am still on my first set of AA batterys.

Zero has shifted once on me, but only after a neigboring shooter accidentally knocked the rifle off it's stand behind the shooting benches and the sight bumped hard on the ground.

Perhaps it could be inconsistant quality control, or just newer models coming out, as some people swear by them, and others hate them.

My .02

foxracing, both are great aiming devices and one may or may not work better than the other, depending on your own eyes, in that respect I don't think one has the advantage over the other. As for the actual device, the aimpoint is more durable has less malfunctions per 100 units sold has a better battery life. The eo's under range conditions rarely fail, only under harsh conditions do their weaknesses really show up. failing electronics, inconsistent battery life, and for goodness sake don't drop it on its head during urban combat. For the range or casual use I would buy either or, if your life depends on it aimpoint hands down.
