Optic for Outlaw Rimfire

I've been using a Diamondback Tactical 4-16x44 FFP this past year to compete in ORPS matches in the production category. I'm thinking about putting something together that would push me into the open category and was wondering if anyone had some suggestions for an optic. For those unfamiliar with ORPS, targets are placed at 25, 50, 75 and 100 yards and you have 2 min to shoot each stage which is typically 10 shots and can include targets set at multiple distances. Stages can include multiple shooting positions from prone or off of barricades with bipod/bag to shooting freehand with a sling. Criteria for the optic are FFP, parallax down to 25 yards and a reticle that has holdover points (preferably mil based). Additionally low weight would be a plus (if something exists in a 1" tube that would be amazing).

I've tried browsing through some of the bigger names in optics and some have nice options (Swarovski Z5, a few Leupold options) but in they tend to have parallax settings that bottom out at 50 or 75 yards. The best I've come across so far is a Vortex Viper PST Gen II FFP 5-25. There is also the Tangent Theta but I don't really have 6k to drop on an optic and its getting pretty chunky at close to 40oz. Any help would be appreciated.
 
Current manf from pretty much all 'better' brands are using 30mm scopes as the small options... 34mm scopes are becoming more popular.

Been competing in various rimfire matches over the last year and a bit. I use and can highly recommend Athlon products. They are being very reactive to the needs of PRS type games and offering new optics with better specs and features all the time. Prices are excellent for the feature sets and they are working very well under demanding match conditions. Start at $720 and up.

Almost all will have a parallax at 25yds... All the desired features and reticle.

Light weight is not a desired trait in this gendre and rimfires are easily over the 10lbs mark and getting heavier.

Perhaps Im missing something but why do I want a 10lbs rig to participate in a 22LR match? Especially when some stages are freehand as already mentioned. Lighter is easier to keep steady over the duration of the timer.

Weight and balance should be catered to the strength and physique of each shooter. Having a heavier rig will come in handy in many of the positional stages. Not too heavy for the unsupported stages. It is a bit of experimenting but a heavier balanced rifle will shoot better then a light unbalanced one.

Weight adds a dampening effect especially in offhand shooting... BUT it has to be something you can support. Here training goes a long ways to building the strength needed.

Athlon Argos 6-24 has parallax down to 10 yards on their blurb I think. I just ordered one today.
 
I am running the vortex diamondback tactical 4-16x44. I have a hard time imagining a better scope for ORPS. It has the parallax adjustment needed, it has FFP so holdovers work even if you don't happen to dial all the way to max. I've debated going to a 6-24x50 but can't really justify it at all.

I would jump to open for trigger, barrel and chassis upgrades, but I just can't see doing it for an optic. Just my thoughts
 
The Diamondback Tactical is an incredible scope for what you are paying and I do like it. Was just wondering what else was out there given that I'm going to end up in the open category if I go through with this rifle build. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions

Place where I ordered my scope from also has an Athlon Helos which has much the same features as the Argos but with locking turrets if you need that. Not too much more when I calculated it out. Also 8x34 were available too if that's your preference, again for not much of an increase in cost. I did read a review that seemed to state that the optics weren't as clear as the 6x24 versions though.
 
I run a vortex razor AMG on my .22 trainer. Top tier glass, light, and all the features you’d need. I’ve compared it to other top tier scopes and it out performs a lot of them in my opinion.

I had the opportunity at Taccom to look through the Razer AMG 6-24 and Viper PST II 5-25. The difference in glass quality was minimal at best from what I could tell. Couple that with the fact that the Viper has the superior magnification range and I would have a hard time spending twice the money for the AMG. Maybe if they release the AMG in 5-25 I would take a second look at it.

Everyone’s eyes are different I suppose. I’ve owned several vipers. Gen 1 and 2. Sightron siii, Nightforce nxs, s&b pm2, Razor Gen 1 and 2 and currently own a Tangent Theta. The two I currently own are the Tangent Theta and AMG. The color and light transmission of these two please my eyes the most. Luckily you were able to try it out beforehand. It gets expensive trying one after another! As far as range goes, 5-25 and 6-24 are essentially the same in the real world. Don’t let that sway you. Even the Razor gen 2 at 27x wouldn’t be considered an advantage over 24x on a .22
 
For outlaw only I would top the rifle with a FFP scope that has adjustable parallax and the best mil xmas tree reticle and shoot hold overs all day. .. that would probably take me too the diamondback tactical, I've looked through a whole bunch of $350-$3500 scopes at different CRPS events. In the budget scope price point (sub $1K) I prefer the Vortex reticle the best by a big margin..
 
I also think you have a great scope already, there is no zero stop but you can use the reticle for all your holds. I use a pst but only at 12x magnification cuz anything more and you just get lost trying to find targets.
