Hi guys. I'm looking to see what could be a good optic for my new Keltec sub2000 gen 3

Alot of people recommend the Romeo 5 but that's really not what I'm looking for. Price point is great.

I'm looking for something like my mepro rds2 pro on my x95 for quick target acquisition. A large window but smaller form factor. I don't know really where to look as there is a huge selection. It's does not have to be a holographic. It could just be a reddot. Price will be better also.

I would like to keep the overall profile small for the carbine. As it's already a compact carbine.

Hopefully this makes sense.

Any recommendations?

Appreciate it

Aimpoint T2
Sig Romeo 4T
Sig Romero 5

Those would be my recommendation in that order.

If you want a bit more magnification, vortex makes a decent 3x optic for about $500

I also would suggest looking at the Trijicon MRO but I have no experience with it.

I have plenty of experience with EOtech, Mepro M5 and RDS,

They are a little large for me to consider them on a sub2k.

Your going to want something that sits high enough to give you a comfortable cheek weld,(probably around 1.5") either an add on riser or built in.

I like Prism's as well but most have limited eye relief... the next generation of Primary Arms GLX micro prisms looks to have red dot like eye relief which is quite amazing.... they should be up north in the near future.

Where have you seen information on this? A long-eye-relief, small, magnified optic would be remarkable.

Not sure if it will be possible to get the "unlimited" eye relief with more magnification, so far they have only announced the GLX 1X micro prism due out 2nd Quarter 2024

How ever they are doing it, I would think that it should allow for quite a bit of an increase in distance for the 3X and 5X if they come out.... 3X is a good sweet spot for my eyes and the Primary Arms micro reticle, I find their 1X chevron reticle with hold over dots to be a bit too small for my eyes to be precise and would prefer if they come out with a dot center and no hold over ranging hashes.

I just could not get used to a x1 or LPVO, the minimum I can work with is x5. For 100 meter target rings I am using a monstrum x50. I like to see it.

We are in a golden age as far as options and affordability of optics... I never knew what astigmatism was, let alone that I had it, until I tried a red dot 20 years ago.... :)
It's not that bad and I still use them and just ignore the flare, I started using prisms maybe a decade ago and their etched reticle is better for astigmatism and the optics will continue to work without batteries. The Latest micro prisms are pretty sweet for not needing batteries and are as small as red dots were 10 years ago. The new GLX micro has amazing eye relief which basically lets people run it as a forward mounted red dot if desired.

Even the LPVO's have come along way, 20 years ago 1-3X 04 1-4X was typical now were looking at 1-10X

The quality of the glass is way better as well in the mid to low range then in the past.

I'm guessing you enjoy shooting mostly from a rest and seeing bullet holes in paper, I enjoy that as well but prefer shooting off hand and hitting reactive targets like Cans, clays or steel plates.

Nice to have options.

I went through couple holographic and red dots in the past several years, and finally settled on prizm scopes for quick target acquisition.

My favorite currently is the IO 5x30 pro (immersive optics) with MDR reticle,

also there is a variant of the same base from Element Optics, the difference is the upgrade on reticle.

For the glass clarity and wide FOV you would be surprised ;)
We need a range report and YouTube review! I’ve been looking at these for e a while but there’s not many reviews.
