Optic Recommendations?

I just bought a Remington 700 SPS .308 and am trying to decide what optic to get. I figure I want one that is at least up to 14x magnification and probably under $800. I don't know what is best or what to stay away from, this is my first personal rifle I have purchased so I am a newbie when it comes to optics. The rifle willbe used for both target shooting and hunting. Does anyone have any info to try to help me please.

Look at Bushnell 4200 series, Burris Fullfield or Nikon Monarch
Good scopes in your price range

Hummm, Bushnell Elite 65002.5-16x50mm for just shy of $800. or the Elite Tactical 4-16x50mm for $850. and a $50 mail-in-rebate until Dec 31. Both optics are single focal plane and no illumination.
