Hi,
One of my screws walked itself loose and I lost it at the range. I'm talking to the shop i bought it from but, its taking sometime. I need a 6-32 3/8 inch screw and was wondering if I need to buy a specific type (material) of screw or if I can just use a machine screw from Home Depot?

How do we know what screw is being talked about? What head is it? I’m assuming fillister but could be a socket head and what drive? Allen, torx or old school flat head.lord forbid a Yankee Phillips. Lol The op states an optic screw so I’m assuming rings and not base but ?

I’m not sure if this matters but, this is going to be for a MPRD that is mounted to a dovetail plate. The screw that I lost was the one that came with the dovetail plate.
Thank you for the responses it’s been very helpful.

Thank you for all the responses. I’m already talking to the store that I bought the plate from bits it’s taking a very long time. I was hoping to go buy a handful of screws so I can have them now and some just in case it happens again. My only fear is the screw breaking inside the mount instead of walking itself off.

Maybe go to your nearest gun shop and ask (politely) if they have that size of screws.

Even our CT gun guy keeps a selection of commonly used screws "under the counter" and hands them out for free if he understands your problem...

First step if the manufacturer won't send you some bolts is finding out the size you need and then searching.... believe it or not I find Amazon to be pretty good at sourcing non standard/typical hardware these days.

I just wanted to thank everybody for the suggestions.
I ended up directly messaging the manufacture and they couldn't import anything to Canada, So I went with amazon screws that had the same specs and a tensile rating of 10.9. I've only had one range trip but they stayed on fine so far. I also added Loctite to the screws

You used to be able to buy a whole kit of those various scope screws from Brownells, I still have part of a box left in the gun room. For future reference. - dan
