im looking for a optic for my 1st AR15. (yet to be ordered)
just clicking on flhertys site i came across Firefield Scope 1.5-5x32 Red/Green Dot.
i cant really find much info on it...what are these like?

im not looking to go to war with this rifle, just shooting paper and maybe get into 3 gun next year or the year after.
but this seems to be what im looking for(kinda) because i want the adjustable zoom.

the other one im looking at is the vortex sparc and strikefire because the have the 2x screw on that comes with them, but i would rather something that goes 1.5-5x.
is there a 3x screw on for the sparc? that would probably make it more of what i want.

any suggestions??

a buddy of mine picked up a sitemark red dot for just over 100 bucks and then a flip over multiplier for around 150 from the same company and he has no complaints and the few times i used it i was impressed

ya i guess i should have been a little more specific... totally gaped that there is such a wide price range for optics.

quick google puts that trigicon at 800+... thats more than i want to spend on one.
im thinking more in the 3-600 range. im not firm on the price. if i see something i like hell ya ill grab it but i want to find it locally so i can actually see it in person rather than just a pic.
that being said we have a few shops around here.
flherties, lebaron, sail , epps (pass it when going to the cottage) and AL Simmons.. all great shops.

Look at the vortex viper pst 1x4.

this looks good! now to find one and check her out!

You may want to consider Burris AR-536. This is a fixed 5 times zoom power with either green & red reticle, specifically made for AR platform.
The big advantage you will have using this scope will be the fact that, once you sight in your rifle it has a bullet drop compensation out to 600 yards. Price is around $500 or so & has a wide 36 mm objective lens.

Please see the link below for Burris website which will give you a more detailed info.
I am very, very satisfied with it & I believe there might me many others who may have the same scope or the earliest model AR-332. (three times fixed zoom with 32 mm objective lens.

ok...i see where you are going with this.
im not too fond of a fixed sight, but it could work. i clicked and came acrodd this: 1x-4x-24mm shown with Fastfire II and P.E.P.R. mount #201905

i like the reflex sight mounted on top, in this case i would want that plus maybe a 3-6+ optical or even the 5x fixed MAYBE.

i see there are mounts for the reflex sight on the ar536 but they seem to be too far forward.

as for distance - my range is capped at 100 yards and im going to be running a NEA 14.5, next AR im going for a 18-20" setup and i found out i just missed out on a MINT one with a 20" heavy barrel for about half what my nea cost... oh well luck of the draw. (and im on backorder list...)

Another one to check out:

Hi-Lux CMR 1-4x24 It's $399 at various CGN sponsors.

Vortex makes a 3X flip to side magnifier. Its about the same price as the optics themselves. And i agree with the 2X being crappy. Field of view goes to next to nothing.

If you are on a budget, I would suggest the Bushnell TSR-25 red dot sight for around $120 or get the Burris MTAC 1x4x24mm with the PEPR mount for around $600.

Try a falcon 1.5x5 rifle scope. I have two of them on swiss rifles and they work. The flattop swiss rifle uses bauer ar15 scope rings, not cheap, but they are very solid.
