So I went out and bought my "in case the government falls" gun (lets TRY not to go off on a tangent). I decided to pick up a Remington R-25. Now I need some way of seeing what I'm shooting, so I need suggestions on appropriate optics and rings

Most of my shooting will be <300m, but every now and then I will have the chance to stretch the .308s legs at longer ranges (up to 900, but not often).

I've got a few Bushnells already and like them, so was thinking a 4200 tactical, but is the 50MOA(50"@100yrs) Bushnell advertises going to be enough to get me out to 600? (I don't mind aiming high any further out)

I'm also wondering the best way to mount the scope to a picatiny rail, both so I can fit a large objective, and so that I can take advantage of the full range of adjustment of the scope.

Falcon Menace 4-14 or 4.5-18. You'll get more than 80 MOA (100 maybe?) and the optics are very nice.

I have one of each, and LOVE them.

I'd use 30mm TPS rings and you can mount them right on the rail. Lows for the 44mm and Mediums (or maybe even lows) for the 56mm.

I would go with the 6x - 24x Tactical from Bushnell. Great scope even though it is short for going out to 900.
If most of your shooting is around 300, using it occasionally for 900 should not be a big problem.

I have the same rifle. Thought I would finally have it ready for the range but I bought the wrong size rings yesterday. I got 30mm when they should have been 1". Anyways I got the extreme tactical burris rings in extra high. They seem high enough but I may even try a spacer to bring the scope up a little more. I bought a 3200 10x tactical to put on it but may put my higher power 3200 tactical on it instead. You will find you need a bunch of room between the charge handle and scope...or mount the scope foward alot.
