Optics for a .375

50 mm that is a little too much on the bulky side ... and it s heavy.

they re the new hype in Europe for pirsch and drucken but i think it s a little overkill as a main optic on a 375 ...

I don't see too many lightweight sheep rifles in 375 and for most, a little extra weight won't be noticed it, they're heavy to begin with. Using modern bullets and powders, the 375's are more versatile than ever and that's a perfect scope for a rifle that has the trajectory of a 30-06 with common loads. I agree the 56mm objectives are really only necessary with high magnification and very low light, but I can definitely notice a difference between a 40/42mm and 50mm at last light.

The small objective scopes may be great for African daytime hunting, but since the OP asked about the 375 for NA game and longer ranges, I think the 2.5-10 or 12 range is about perfect.

Paul im on it but Leupold Korth need 50 to be ordered before getting them here.

i want at least two of them with one german reticle 1 and 1 with the 4 ...

Korth is a distributor right? Do these have to be sold retail or or will Korth sell directly to individuals?

If so what price is Korth quoting and does it include shipping? Any extra charge for different reticles? Thanks.

Now there is a darn good and very tough scope !
I cannot remember how long ago I put one on my 458 and its still perfect..

The review says it all ...

leupold 3x20
Best dangerous game scope in its class, maybe in any class. Taken many grizzlies with a 35 year old 3x20. Looking forward to receiving this new model Leupold 3x20. Field experience with any firearm related product is always the best teacher .

Korth doesn't sell to the public, you'd have to go through one of the retailers they distribute to, as such.. those retailers/dealers would likely be able to get you the information you need!

On my custom built 375 RUM I have a elite 6500 2.5-16x50 nice scope with a wide range of power. We will see how it holds up to the recoil over the long run.

The choice of scope should reflect the use of the rifle. I agree that the 3X20 is an excellent dangerous game scope, and its an appropriate choice if your .375 is a niche rifle dedicated to such duty. But the .375 is so much more than a dangerous game rifle, and it is in fact a reasonable upper limit for use as a general purpose rifle. The .375 has proven itself on light and medium game, and when loaded with high BC bullets, the resulting flat trajectories allow it to perform admirably beyond a quarter mile. But if shots approaching a quarter mile are going to be seriously considered, then its reasonable to assume that more scope magnification is beneficial.

I rarely take shots over 200yds. When I got the 375 I had an Leupold 1.5 x 5 VX-3 that wasn't doing anything so I mounted it to get it up and running. Opportunities around here can occur anywhere from 10ft to couple hundred yds. due to bush density etc. It has never given me any reason thus far to change it out for something with more magnification. Like said previously, the optics you choose depends on rifle use. For my purposes the 1.5 x5 works just fine.

The 602 .375hh has always worn a B & L Balvar 1.5X6 since day one. That scope is primo for me in any legal light at any range .
As time moved on, and the BRNO seemed to grow heavier and heavier as the hills became somehow steeper and steeper, I moved over to a 9.3x62 Wagner Husqvarna that is fully 3+ pounds lighter to hump about .... and it wears it's own B&L 1.5x6, mounted low. I'll happily finish out all my remaining med. bore gun tote'n days, with that scope and that rifle over me shoulder. :)

BTW, IMO, 6x is plenty of magnification to place any reasonable shot precisely out to a quarter mile, and 1.5x is so fast and sure, right back into muzzle flash fur burning distances. Low light/shadow?, never been a problem. Sometimes we clang snowfield backed 400yd gongs at midnight, just fer the hellofit!.

Truth told, I'm not much of a hunter at all, certainly not even remotely close to the competence of some of our members posting here ... but I do so enjoy carrying my 1.5x6 9.3x62 about the wilderness .... yes I do.

I have a VXR 1.25-4X20 with a "Firedot 4" reticle, which is like a German #4 with an illuminated dot at the centre; it's sat on a few rifles, and is headed for my Sako in 30-06 shortly.

I'm impressed enough with this scope that I'm ordering another like it for my 375 Ruger. I'm sad that Ruger doesn't make a 30mm LOW ring though, as it's compact enough that mediums aren't necessary.

I used to think that their VX3 2.5-8X36 was the best scope going for a hunting rig, but I'm migrating into the lower-magnification camp quickly. I'd still pick that one for longer range deer/elk/sheep/antelope rifles, but for everything all-purpose, something around 1-4 with a compact profile is the ticket!

I found that the sweet spot on my FFP long-range target scope was 8X. I laugh under my breath at hunting rigs I see with huge 50+mm objectives and rings that turn to double-digit magnification levels.

that is a discussion we can have when we will be set up but i have connection with Korth when the time will come ...

Just bringing this back to see if there are any other new offerings people would consider?

I'm also kind of torn on whether the low end on a variable should start with a 1-1.x.... If the high end was up to 5 or 6 that might be enough for the distances I have in mind.

Any further thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Interesting post.
I went with the Luepold FX-11 in 2.8 x 28 because of the longer eye relief. Ruger No 1's put the scope too far ahead for me; this seemed a nice compromise IMO.
But again; no expert here, just kinda trailing along on this topic.

My first 375 H&H wore a 3X Leupold and later on a 1.5-5 Leupold as does my current H&H.
The 1500 Howa 375 Ruger wears a 1.5-6 X 42 Swarovski Habicht, an older model with the illuminated reticle and I quite like it, Lots of eye relief like the Leupolds and it seems to be a rugged glass..
