I am look for opinion/recommendations for optics for a Spikes Tactical AR. It hasn't arrived yet but I am doing some prep work.

I am looking for an optic for CQC and out to 300 metres (max) but lightweight, durable, and easy to attach/remove. I have used EO Tech and they're good but was also wanting something a little different. Thank you in advance for your input.

Jut getting back into the game I couldn't bring myself to fork out $1000 for a red dot and magnifier... I also didn't want total garbage. I did shell out $600 for a vortex sparc and 3vmx. With only a few rounds down range I found this combo accurate and cost effective. I'll update once I get some more lead through it! Good luck!

If it was just close range stuff I'd say aimpoint.
But wanting to go out to 300 meters I'd seriously look into a fixed power 4x trijicon acog. They're light, reliable, and you can get various quick detach mounts that return to zero.
Or look into a variable power scope 1-4x or 1-5x. You can get quick detach mounts for them as well. The only down side may be weight and size, depending on model and your eye relief you might not be able to run back up iron sights.
I guess it all depends on your budget, you do usaully get what you pay for but it doesn't often come cheap. Do some research and see if you can try a couple options out before you buy because it's all preference and mistakes can be expensive losses.

Eotech's love AR's and AR's love eotech's.
If you really want to be different Elcan spectre or Trijicon ACOG both solid weapon sights for the AR.

Some people like the aimpoint sight but havnt tried it and none of my buddies have one either so cant really say.

Depending on the level of performance the OP is looking for at 300 yards, the EoTech is a poor option. Magnifiers suck at best and push the system cost through the roof. The Elcan is overpriced and has its own problems, one of which is weight. The ACOG is great, but its fixed power and doesn't excel at close in work. All criteria considered, the OP needs to look at low power optics.

It is no Eotech but you may want to consider Burris AR-536™ Prism Sight. It is well priced, 36 mm objective, 5 times magnification which makes it easier to engage target up to 600 meters . It comes with both red & green illuminated reticles. For more detail info, check out the link below. By the way, this scope is made for AR platform.

For close range, 5x fixed might be a bit much. Burris makes the same sight in 3x.
I would agree with the suggestions that a decent low power variable would be a preferred choice.

Just picked up a Lucid HD 7 from HiCal. It looks and feels very stout and the product is heavily backed by the manufacturer. At $300 for me it was a no brainer. Dave is cool at HiCal and easy to deal with

Yup, T1 2MOA is the way to go. The gun celebrities can hit 700m targets with these. :D

Aimpoint T1. Learn your holds.

Thank you gentlemen for your input. I have made a list of your suggestions and will have a look on next days off. I have looked at the Burris line of optics as there was one listed on Wolverine Supplies website (not sure if same model though).

Price is a factor but reliability and function take precedent.

Agreed or the AR-332 or AR-556, slightly different but best bang for the buck IMHO, Wolverine has em on for 375+ tax.

There are a couple of AR-322s on sale in P'boro for $249 plus tax. Samples/Demos, w/warranty cards.
