Optics for CQB

You bought a Noveske Infidel and you are only willing to spend $600 on optics?

Something is wrong here......

You can get an Aimpoint or Microdot for that price but I don't think you should put artificial limits on your choice of optics. I use an ACOG 4x and it is great for CQB and target work further out.

Adding a magnifier to a dot or holographic sight is an ingenious solution to a problem that shouldn't exist in the first place.
There are any number of sights which will be prefectly good for CQB, and are also effective at rifle ranges.
 
If you do intend to do the odd service rifle match than a red dot is the last thing you should be looking at. A decent 1-4x variable scope is much better suited to the varying conditions that you're describing, but your budget is going to limit you. Given your budget I'd look at the Burris 1-4x XTR.

If you plan on using it for CQB only then go with the red dot.
 
If you really need magnification buy a 1-4 optic, they are only a hair slower than a dedicated red dot, and a much better configuration than trying to line up two sighting devices on one rail, where there are way too many things that can go wrong.

I realize the military uses those setups but its because what is issued, not because it is the best. In fact the military is a poor gauge to measure by. Mercenaries???? they are a whole different breed and they do use the best available, and they rarely use red dots with magnifiers. Red dots yes. or 1-4's

Millet makes an excellent entry level product, nf great midrange, and S&B Short dot, is simply the best talking of 1-4's here.

I agree totally. A red dot is limiting for distance, plus I really like having adjustable turrets to dial my point of impact depending on range. Most red dots don't have adjustable turrets (I only really know of the Lucid that does).

If you want to shoot both eyes open, get a variable with a true 1x times low end and perhaps an illuminated reticule. I am used to my 1.5-5x scopes on both my ARs and I use essentially the same optic for SR and CQB. If you are at the CQB match on the 22nd feel free to check out my optic set up. My Falcons are a bit more budget than you are looking for but they will give you some idea of the concept.

I mean, unless you are completely sold on a red-dot...if so, fill your boots, run what you want and have fun. Sorry but I have no real experience with red dots so I can't make a recommendation.

Could also have a mild astigmatism (which is quite common and frequently undiagnosed) - holo sights and "medium quality" red dots show this up like nobodies business.
 
I have the EOTech XPS2-0 on my AR and loving it. Battery life is not as great as the Aimpoint but who cares, just bring a spare in your kit.

Ill be there and you can then try my Aimpoint H1 after Bolivar's Scope to compare.
 
The dual optical option will solved the problem
I put the Zeiss Z point red dot on top of Hensoldet ZO4x30 on my SL8 G36 conversion
(new German standard issued IDz program dual optical )
And I use the ACOG with RMR on top of it as same dual optical idea

So I will have both 1x red dot and 4x scope at same time to deal
all kind different needed without any adjustment
In this setup it's easier to zero too because both optical has its own adjustment


But if you want more X then the only optional is having the scope and offset scope mount for the compact red dot like a RMR sight
