Hello There,

Ordered a Ruger Precision Rimfire 22LR and looking for an adequate scope.

This will be my first set up.

Cabelas has a few deals and I have narrowed it down to.

1) Ruger Precision Rimfire 22LR Vortex® Diamondback® 4-12x40 V-PLEX Riflescope $229.99

2) Bushnell® 3-12x40 AR Optics® Riflescope $249.99 (comes with Weaver mount)

What will be a better option?

If any other options, please do share.

I would like to keep the price to around $250 'ish if possible.

Thank you for sharing.

Is it just for plinking or do you plan on competing in pros/crps competition? Do you have a budget or just looking for a deal. I started with a cabelas covenant on mine and found it inadequate once I got a little more serious about shooting orps but for someone just looking to have fun at the range it would be more then adequate. I replaced mine with an Athlon Ares btr($1000ish) and it is a great scope and was more then enough scope. Lots of guys are using the Vortex strike eagle and Athlon Midas tac which have bigger main tubes(more vertical adjustment). The cabelas covenants often go on sale into the $250 range if that’s your hard number.

Just for plinking at the range.

Its only a 22LR so not sure I can even shoot that more than 300 yards with much accuracy with that.

I did go to Cabelas to hold some scopes, the sales person actively told me NOT to get one. Found it very odd.
They have 6-24X50MM Covenant 5 available for $249.99.

Anyone knows how long the warranty on the Cabelas Covenants?
Heard it was only 90 days!!

I’m not sure about the cabelas warranty but one option I might suggest if you are willing to spend a little more is the Athlon Argos btr 6-24.they are double what you were looking to spend but have a lifetime warranty if that’s a concern they are first focal plane and have exposed turrets and Wolverine has both mil and moa in stock.Imho you will get a lot more out of your rifle with decent glass. I have also heard some good things about the new arken scopes but I’m not sure where they fall in pricing.

I have a couple of these and I'm pretty happy with them, especially for the cost...

Cabela's Covenant are OK scopes.

Made by Discovery Scopes (China) very popular with the Air Gun crowd. Friend of mine has one and seems to be happy with it.

An Athlon Argos or Vortex Diamondback Tactical in 4-16 would be my bottom end for that rifle. It is a bit of a step out in faith when you start spending a bit more on optics, but the performance and features below the $500 price point really drop way off.
