Optics for Stag 10.... what are people using?

:) Yes. Best eye relief I have. Both are ED glass IIRC. Tried to zero Thursday. Snow storm came just as we got to our spot. Almost stayed anyway but my parents are in the area and needed me to setup the new router and lock it down. Drive home was a nightmare.

So close....

That's the one! What do you think of it? I REALLY like my other Elcans, but I've read that while this one is great in a lot of ways, FOV is narrow and weight is high.... what's your experience on the Stag?
 
Like all Elcan products the glass is fantastic.

The magnification selector is simple and easily adjusted. (Best feature)

The reticle is not easily visible on 1x - recommend turning on the Red Dot.

Best mode is 3x

I also have a 1.5-6 SpectreDR and the C79.

The DR is my preference.

My Stag is a light weight build.... with the weight more to rear with the optic it is a non-issue.

Thanks for the feedback. I have a 1-4DR and love it, so I was considering a 1.5-6 for the Stag, but I want a bit more magnification.

Thanks to everyone for the other suggestions as well. There are a LOT of options to choose from...

If you can find a #-10 power optic, you can keep that under consideration. I own a vortex 2.5-10 ffp and I love. I find it provides a good field of view with a decent amount of magnification. I have pushed my stag out to 800 yards with it and had no problem engaging the target.

I have the M-308 on my Stag and it actually does an amazing job for the price-point. I find it almost compares to my Viper HS-T. I would however recommend the BDC reticle instead of the Nicoplex (like I have).

Check out the “Nikon BLACK” series of scopes. You will be surprised at the quality for the price.

Very good reviews on you tube.
 
Thanks again to you all for the advice. After a bunch of research and comparing options, I realized.... there are a LOT of really nice scopes I want to buy! That being said, I decided to go with an Elcan SpecterTR 1-3-9, so now just have to wait for it to arrive to decide whether or not I made another huge, expensive mistake!! Hopefully it'll be a good fit for the kind of shooting I want to use the gun for. I've had good luck with other Elcans, so we shall see.

I hate the nikon bdc recticle and those goofy circles.
I have the Nikon monarch 3 4-16 x 42 SF with Nikoplex (duplex) recticle
Using Nikon's spot on app and my load data makes in field adjustments a snap.
It has been an excellent scope so far and I've hunted it in +20C down to -30C and have not been all that kind to it in the field. currently mounted on a 7mm rem mag
 
I know you already made a decision but I'll toss in my .02 anyways.

I went with a Leupold VX-5 HD 3-15x44. Bright clear HD glass, magnification range suitable for close and long shots, 30mm tube with plenty of elevation adjustment, turrets click and track good, zero stop, a variety of available reticles suitable for different applications, and it only weighs 19 oz.

Suggestions are still good.... others may still be looking at options, and I my end up hating the Elcan and need to try other optics....
 
I'm running a sightron Slll 8-32x56 on mine. I dont shoot it closer than 200 and dont hunt with it. It weighs 12 pounds without optic. I built it to be heavy and accurate.
 
I have a trijicon 1*8 on my 102 which I think fits it well. Have hit steel out to 500 no problem as fast as I can pull the trigger. Elcan sounds like a good choice too. Picked up a 1.5*6 to try out.
