Optics for Tavor

What forend is that? Thanks!

I bought both the Super Sabra and the Lightning Trigger Bow... and it was the best money that I've put into my Tavor.

I've posted these pictures elsewhere, but thought I'd put them up again, anyway... just some options that happen to work for three different guys.

Good luck.

And a later picture...

I tried a couple things.
ACOG : too short eye relief for me. Sold it back.
EOTech : exactly the same setup as pictured above in the thread. But with the refund fiasco, I got rid of it. Loved it.
Regular scope: nah, did not like it much.
I had the Mepro scope that came with the first batch of Tavors, worked ok except when in the shade. Sold it.

So right now I have a Vortex Viper 1-4x24. I LOVE it, it's the best I have tried yet. And the x1 is clear enough that I can use it with both eyes open. I will stick to this one for a good while.

I'm running the meprolight m21 on mine and it works great. Not too pricey either. I throw on a magnifier for longer range if I feel like it. Just picked up an elcan specter dr, so I am going to try that out for a bit.

I have a little known Elcan Spectre Atos 3.0x on my Tavor.. I really like the illuminated reticle, the glass is flawless, and it works well for both cqb or longer distances. Quite a bit cheaper then the Spectre DR too.

Why not the Mepro M21, which is what the IDF actually issues with the Tavor? I have the Bullseye Reticle paired with a Burris 3x "Tripler" in a swing-to-side mount, and the system integrates very well. Going from 3X to zero magnification or vice-versa is almost as quick as an Elcan - just swing the "Tripler" out of the way or back into position. It can be done faster than I can say it. Definitely good kit.

I had a mepro on mine, but it had washout issues. Got the WOR, but found it went through batteries way too quickly, and seemed like a bit of a hokey fix. Moved on to other options.

Ive had everything on the Tavor from Specter DR's to scopes, I keep going back to my Aimpoint PRO

The Tavor seems to work best with a RDS for some reason.

Bartok5, you have exceptional taste in firearms! :)

Simple. Works for me. I've been fortunate and no battery problems with the WOR. I actually really do like the M21. But.. without the WOR the washout was annoying as heck. If that fails, I have my iron sights, which are 1/3rd cowitnessed. Rear sights are LMT and MI. The LMT one fits in there really nice on the 2.5 versions. Had one around so figured I'd give it a try. It doesn't fold down, but so what. I really like it.

You went full Tavor!!!

Sorry couldn't resist. Nice Tavor collection!!

I had my Tavor initially set up with an EOTec 512 and a Vortex 3x. I was running my hand into the 512 when charging. So I moved the pair back. Then my eye/face was hitting the 3x. Tried the offset mount and Vortex Strike Eagle route but the charging hand again was hitting the scope. Ultimately ended up with a 3x Vortex Spitfire prism scope. Was the best fit for me. Got a lot of advice on optics in that thread. You might want to check it out for advice.

Bwahahahaha! I have yet to find those seven lucky numbers that would allow me two, never mind three, Tavors! Nope, just me and a couple of other rednecks in central BC with a penchant for Israeli kit.

Another vote for the Vortex Strike Eagle. Price is around $450 and you'love probably spend $100 on rings/mount. I love mine. It's 1x-6x. I must be getting old, the 6x is so nice to have when shooting at distance over 4x. Vortex have amazing service if you ever have a problem. I don't think you can get better quality and service for the price. Only down side is the weight. It is a bit heavy compared to a red dot but worth it IMHO.

I've never hit my knuckles on it racking the bolt. Not an issue for me. I've used it in a Lethbridge 3 gun match. Distances were 10 meters to 200 meters. Great setup. (Really would like the Giessele trigger pack one day)

I'm surprised the charging handle was hitting the Strike Eagle. Was it mounted low??
