I'm trying to decide on optics for my 308. I'm looking at Vortex razorII 4.5-27, USO er25 or Nightforce F1 ATACR 5-25. I'm just getting into precision long range shooting and I want good optics I'm open to segestions. Thanks.

Depends a lot on application. Check out the precision rifle blog - they analyzed a whole bunch of the high end tactical scopes. Personally I'd recommend S+B Pmii - doubt anyone will argue strongly against that choice.

I'm kind of in the same boat as you deciding which scope to purchase. My list has the Razor Gen2, F1 ATACR 5-25, S&B PmII, and possibly the Tangent Theta 5-25.

Reading other forums, people have been selling Schmidt and Bender's to buy more Razor Gen 2's. They are a great scope at a great price, although not as cheap as in the states, but still cheaper than the PMII or TT. From what I understand, the PMII tunnels below 7 power and so does the new ATACR. If you don't know what this is, look up the youtube video from Primal Rights, it does a good job of showing it.

I will probably end up with the Razor because of the Warranty and quality for the price even though it is really heavy.

I'd recommend looking through them yourself and making your decision rather than getting caught up in internet opinions. Then justify the costs to yourself.

One more thing because it kills me every time I see it:
Don't buy a scope because it has a good warranty,
Buy a scope that you will never need a warranty.

Most of today's scope manufacturers are going to take care of you, you are not going to be left out in the cold with a busted scope.

.

Very good point. I'm not saying that you will need the Warranty for the Vortex, I'm just saying it's there if you ever do, no questions asked. S&B carries a 2 year warranty now and it is void if you paint the scope. From what I hear the Razor is still an amazing scope.

And yes you are right that most will take care of you. I'm still waiting to get behind the new F1 ATACR before I make my choice.

i ended up getting the vortex razor II 4.5-27 after looking through this scope again my mind was made up. Thanks for the advice. I also didn't make this decision over night i was trying to decide for the last 4 months.
