Optics options to replace Mepro

Greetings, I got a Tavor about a month ago, and I am looking at replacing the Mepro... I like the height but the reticule is so easy to loose! It's not bright enough. I will be using the Tavor to shoot mostly target from 25y. to 200y., 75% around 50/100 yards. And I am not immune to the "coolness" factor

I would like first hand comments on the options I see so far:

- EoTech: I like those, not to expensive. But I read comments about shifting zeros? Please comment on that, that is not acceptable! Option for later, magnifier.

- Leupold prismatic. I like the fact that it's a "real" reticule, not dependent on batteries. Anyone ever used / seen it? Could an EoTech magnifier be use with that later?

- Leupold Mk4 CQ/T: Expensive ? Unobtainium?? Comments are very good however, from close to long range, holds zero.

- Acog: good comments in general. Expensive, fixed magnification, worth it?

- Aimpoint: CompML3, not many info on these, comments anyone?

- "Regular scope": I tried a Leupold MkII 1-4X20. The scope is ok but dark and non-illumitated, will not use that.

- "Regular scope 2": nightforce 1-4x24, to expensive for what it is, IMHO.

- Elcan Specter DR: $$$, reliability seems so-so from what I read. Not convinced, will not get that one!

As far as mounts, I saw the Rock River Arms high rise scope mounts, I think that would be sufficiently high. Like I said the reticule height on the Mepro is just right for me so I need something quite high.

Anyways, any comments and options are welcome!

Greetings, I got a Tavor about a month ago, and I am looking at replacing the Mepro...

Same issue here... however I haven't shot with the Mepro yet, once the quick release mount arrives, I'll give it a try.

I changed mine over to my Eotech 551 but like some others have observed, the reticle on the Eotech is rather huge and slightly blurry at longer ranges, I personally find it hard to sight in specific points... I had a hell of a time zeroing it by myself but I'm 150% sure it's the shooter and not the setup. If I put the rifle in the hands of a much more experienced shooter, he'd nail tight groupings no matter what sight is on it. As for keeping zero I would not be able to tell yet, I can't shoot well enough (unless I used a bench vise). It does only mount by a single screw so it sounds plausible that it could shift.

I'm looking at the Trijicon and the Falcon Menace 1.5x5 at present. The CQT and the Mark 4 are a little pricey.

Only issue I can find with the Trijicons at present is finding the 4x models, they appear to be US only at present (counld be wrong). The 3x are no issue and they are like $1200+. The Falcon is $300+. Not as much ### factor but bang for buck looks good.

However we'd have to be selective on the mounting system due to the rear BUIS mount. I've seen quite a few 30mm mounts that push the rail to the rear and the scope out front more, that may work. Or simply mount the scope over the BUIS but then it would be way up there.

I was also considering the 3x magnifier for the Eotech but I can't find any reviews or sample shots of how it looks (if I hate the reticle now, how will I like it magnified 3x!). I assume it works around this but hence why I was looking to see what it looks like.

For the price of the Trijicon I can get the Falcon, mount, extra mags, reloading equipment, etc, etc ,etc and then maybe move to a Trijicon at a later date when funds allow

Btw, you tried a few longer scopes, how did you mount them and did you take pics?

I got the factory installed rail for my Tavor. So no high BUIS, only a flip up that sits inside the rail.

I used a riser and regular rings to mount the scopes.
