Hey all....
Quick question about what you are using or recommend for scope and rings.
I took out my old 22 Browning lever yesterday for the first time in a coons age and came to the realization that my 60 year old eyes are not as sharp anymore......lol.
So I'm on the hunt for a scope, rings or possibly red dot ?
Hate to mount optics on this classic old girl but its inevitable . Maybe check out EE ?
Whats everyone using ?

A lot depends on your use(s), like if you hunt with this maybe get a 'classic Weaver' in 4x or one of the 'V' series. I'd feel a red-dot would disrupt the lines and look bulky. Tho you could get a 'mini-red dot' like made for pistols that wouldn't be too bulky.

I see lots of guys running a low powered variable optic on lever guns these days. A light weight 1-4 would look not too out of place and wouldn’t mess up the balance of the rifle too much.
However,
If it was my gun I’d be searching for a used Leupold Rimfire scope with gloss finish, fixed 4 or 2-7. They weigh nothing and look sharp on classic wood and steel guns

No levers but all my rimfires use 2-7,3-9 or 3-12 variable scopes that have A/O or side focus so whether I'm shooting 50 or 150 yards I can dial it in, my eyes are no hell either. Just a thought.

The red dot , reflex sights are quick for close up shots .But for what I use my 22RF for they do not give me the precision I look for in a .22
If my shots start going beyond 60 yards I like more power than 4X I would look for a Rim Fire scope in 3X9.

Those baby Leupolds and Burris are as scarce as hens teeth, buy don’t dither

This is good advice. If you're just using it for plinking or a leisurely walk-about for grouse then look for a baby Redfield, or even better, look for their little Browning 3/4" scope; also made by Redfield in Denver. It has a sleeker profile and is marked Browning.....a perfect fit and would look great on the BL22. Unfortunately, they're both a bit costly.

I’ve been quite happy with Burris 2-7x35 I picked up at crappy tire for just over a hundred on clearance. It is fairly compact and indestructible, and image quality beats any true LPVO by a large margin.

BTW Stoeger Canada has Burris Fullfield 3-9 on clearance for about two hundred as of now

I have a 2.5X Leupold IER in QD rings on a scout mount on my 1895GS.

I like it a lot for fast shooting at short to medium range.

The scope is light weight and comes off easily so the back up ghost ring sights can be used.

Not allot of real estate on a BL-22 receiver. As in, almost none. I like/don't love red dots, but they may be a good option on that gun. I'm only 5 years behind the OP age-wise, and have learned that the cheapest red dots aren't worth using. The ones I have are made by Holosun, and I think they're currently the gold standard for value/price. Your BL-22 would need something like this to make it work;

On several of my "plinking" or "grouse hunting" rimfires, I have the excellent Leupold 2-7 compact.
Plenty of optics for that purpose, and don't look ugly mounted on a sleek rimfire rifle. Dave.
