i have a few holosun with solar power is very good for the price 300 to 500$ depending on the option,bushnell trs-25 is still the best bet for your money 150 to 200$ holt up on shotgun very well i had one on my benelli for 3 years now still going strong.

Don't forget the mount , unless you're just using the rail.
Which shotgun are you mounting it on ?
There are red dot mounts that will give you a lower sight over the bore axis , some of them, however, are limited to the red dots you can use .

Do you know who has the absolute worst customer service? - Aimpoint, they completely suck at it, but then most folks don't know that because their stuff doesn't fail. Just saying.

I have been using a vortex crossfire 2 red dot on my Mossberg 930 SPX and it has been solid. I've been trying to find one of those Holosuns with the buckshot pattern reticle but haven't been so lucky.

Holosun are good products but presently my friend has been waiting months to send back his red dot, terrible customer service.

This has been my experience with the Holosun on my shotgun too (508T with green reticle).

I especially like the reticle, big enough to pick up quickly but still has the fine centre dot for precision with slugs when needed.

Exactly.

OP asked about "best", and Aimpoint is it (in my opinion for a shotgun, specifically the Micro series).

There are lots of other great options, but they fall into the "good value for the money" category.

The only issue I have with Aimpoint for shotguns is dot size. The vast majority are one or two MOA dots, and shotguns, while requiring a decent aim, can be run amazingly quickly with a circle reticle, and still be precise at range with a dot.

My vote goes to the Holosun 503 with the dual reticle, 2MOA dot and 65MOA circle. The circle is about 16" at 25m and is about what a cylinder bore throws non-Flite Control buckshot into...

I have the Holosun 32 MOA and dot - ideally the 65 MOA and dot would be the best answer, but EoTechs are too big (wide) for the majority of shotguns. The Holosun 503 with the 65 and dot is an excellent choice if available.

It's 21.5 inches over all, you really can't tell, especially with 16+1 mini slugs in the tubes
