I know there different guns and hard to compare BUT there both good deals I think..

HK USP .45 3 year old comes with 2 MAGS I can pick it up for 750$

Glock 17 9mm brand new, comes with 4 mags. I can pick it up for 750$

I never had a .45 pistol and I know the HK's are worth alot brand new...but the ammo is expensive..

The glock is an ok deal brand new I think there 700$ with 2 mags..

they are way different HK SA/DA VS Glock DAO

Ammo Price is also huge factor if you don't reload 2X more expensive

If you want SA/DA go whit HK, if you don't care go whit Glock. I had a G17, sold it afther 1 range cession it's not for me. I fired HK USP .45 and I loved it!

Your range must have some member who hown those ask if you can try them!

If you're thinking of "investment" as well as shooting, H&K hold their value much better then the Glock line of pistols. You may do better if/when you decide to trade up to another piece in the future.

My .02

I prefer the Glock to the USP any day. Had a USP 40 and sold it after a few months as I just didn't like the trigger pull on it. I prefer the short trigger reset on the Glock.

Of the two, I'd pick the Glock, considering the USP comes with fewer, more expensive magazines. If I was looking for an HK pistol in .45, it would have to be the HK45.

Glock pistols are synonymous with reliability an accuracy is good too.

well I think we would be hard pressed to split any hairs regarding accuracy or reliability issues between the two.

It would have to come down to ergonomics, ammo preference, style preference, aftermarket preference or personal bias if any.

Where to start, there are only three automatic pistols I recommend when friends ask: Sig P220/226 (German made), anything H&K and anything Glock. I've used all of these at one time or another for various forms of competition/training courses/legal woods carry (usually took a 12 gauge or 357 though).

Glock17: The first pistol ( after a 22 of course) I usually recommend to friends. Inexpensive, reliable and an easy manual of arms to learn and master. I've shot many a borrowed G17 for courses and have always scored well and enjoyed them. However, your Glock will depreciate and it is just another dime a dozen Glock and I'm too snooty to buy one:)

USP45: They're a little big for my hands (prefer the HK45) but they're stone reliable, very accurate (especially for a service pistol) and not terribly common. My P7 was a work of art, remarkable craftsmanship, accurate, loved it (damn divorce!). I once ran my p2000 for several thousand rounds without cleaning it, trying to get it to fail. No such luck! Eventually it was so grungy to the touch I had to clean it.

Either way, get the USP, it will never be worth less than you are paying for it. If you decide you don't like it; sell it, recoup your initial investment and buy the Glock. There'll be plenty available.

And remember kids, friends don't let friends buy Glocks:D

A brand new G17 should cost anywhere between $599 to $620 to be fair, after market korean mag about $ 25 to $28 each. totally should set you back at about $ 680. Shop around and buy what you like, someone mentioned HK draw attention at the range but it never is the case. But of course a .45 should consider a 1911 as well.

Imo, those are 2 different animals. Both are very good pistols and very reliable. DA/SA vs DAO, 45ACP vs 9mm, Used vs New, etc... Many things to decide.

I'm not too fond of the USP as the ergo don't fit me really well. Be sure to handle both before commiting to one. I'm also not a fan of H&K controls, again, this is subjective; YMMV.

Good luck and let us know what you choose :)
