I'm thinking of upgrading my M305 with a side folding stock. I've seen the sticky and the McMillan. Are there any other options available?. Links would be great if possible, but any names that I can search would be appreciated.

Thx

The US tried only a few stock shortening experiments according to the references. One was an under-folder and a couple of skeleton side folders. The American service didn't see much practicality fighting with a wiggly stock after a short parachute ride. So, almost any folding stock will be a new commercial design.

Choate was making them about 15 years ago....and now, you can find them popping up on the e-bay for about $250-300USD, but nobody wants to ship them to Canada... :(

Actually Choate never made the folders but rather supplied the folding mechanisms to Springfield and the made the stockd using USGI fiberglass stocks,Choate folding mechanims ,a small piece of angle-iron and a M-16 pistol grip . There are a few options : Reese surplus/Beretta/Springfield folder ,Mc Millan, Springfield /Choate folder and many Home built units .
All are expensive ,a SA/Beretta original will set you back $300-500. A SA/Choate about $250 to $300 and a current Reese surplus which are sold out will run $200-$250.I have no clue on the McM's but I do recall thgat they were $450 or so without the butt part and they must be bedded
.
I hope this helps !

The Reese folding stock is actually parts from an Italian Garand evolution the BM59 and BM62. When the Italians took the 7.62 rifles away from the paras and mountain troops they sold the parts to Reese. Kindly, they sell/sold a swanky side folding stock on the US market. They kindly posted a link to an old gun rag article about their company and the BM59 rifle. The folding stock is on the last page.

Some thoughful fellow posted this long article on the BM59 and its history. The same one I summarized above.
