Options of inexpensive bolt plinker

Well guys even tho the most of you were pointing toward the savage mostly for being a safe choice, I ended up buying the NS522 and going for a challenge/thinkering project.

The savage looks to be more of a buy it and leave it, unless you want to spend a lot on aftermarket parts. After reading father's build tread and other reviews I realized the Norinco have outstanding accuracy for the price and also a lot of DIY optimizing project potential. I figure I will be able to make up for the iffy finish of the Norinco by smoothing it out myself.

I'll just have to make sure not to lose anything...

im gonna be doing the same, maybe even this week.
gonna pick up one of those Norc's and tuck it away in the safe till next winter and work on it as a winter project with my daughters i think.

Don't forget to cast an eye at TradEx...

I've only ever bough ammo from them, but they've got a great rep, and you can pick up a pretty high class German Voere, or some of the Squires and Bingham (Armscor, Phillipines - don't knock 'em 'till you shoot 'em) well within your price range.

Here's a good Voere that would likely out shoot the Savage all day, every day, for $259... If you're willing to put up with a few stock dings, you can get some real gems on the used market.
