Options other than SS

So what other options do we have other than a SS action and barrel to protect our investments???

And I do not mean more care after use....I do that anyways, but after a few hours out here in the rain, my blued action gets "dirty" and I do not want to coat it in smelly oil everyday.

I had my old Win FWT powder coated way way back in 1990 and it did well, especially out here in wetcoast.

I am looking at getting a SS gun, but if I find the right deal in a blued action, I will take it if I can get some kind of protection applied to the metal parts.

Cheers

Contact Murdoc.
He can even do clear coat. Did it to my completely camo stock rifle and scope. Hell be sides cleaning the barrel once in a blue moon I never touch the out side and it still looks mint.

It's like any other finish, one just has to get to appreciate the look and reap the benefits of the coating. Personally I haven't done it to any of my firearms, but I do like it. And on the other side of the coin, wiping and oiling a barrel (and other parts that have to be cleaned and oiled anyways) isn't so bad. As the benefit is that it maintains the finish for a longer period of time.

Probably not what you are looking for, but Flitz makes a gun and stock wax that works quite well for protection from the wet. I have used it on numerous rifles and the water just beads right off.

coatings

Corlane used to do a teflon coating in several colors. I had half dozen or so rifles done and it is great. Still have a 264 they did 20 years ago with SS bbl and it as good as the day it was done. I love it, it's a nice satin finish and you can submerge in salt water and it is impervios. Might be worth a call.

If you're not looking for colour or texture, then Dyna-Gun Shield offers all the corrosion protection you can ask for. It is a non-detectable finish after it's been applied. You apply it yourself at home. Very straight forward.

I picked up an Icon in Weathershield.
Love the stock, and the rifle seems very durable; no rust yet.
I hunt on the Skeena (lower) and I would find it hard to believe there is a worse climate on equipment, but this product has worked well so far.
Personally I love SS (my Sako rocks), the coatings protect the outside great, but how can they protect the chamber & barrel when it isn't there?

TC weathershield is the same stuff Jordan is talking about. TC uses the DynaTek coatings stuff but they just call it something different.
