I have the option to hunt deer on a couple peices of land for archery and shotgun season here in Ontario.
When scouting the area while turkey hunting, I see no options for a tree stand as the trees are all very new growth. There is a line of cedars(that would provide ground cover between the maple new growth and a wheat field.
Want to know what options anyone is using for archery and shotgun that is an alternate to using a treestand and the success. My concerns are scent and camoflauge of course.

Thanks in advance.

So far most of my deer hunting (archery) has been done from a simple ground blind. My situation has been similar, in which the best areas do not have large trees for a stand. I've only taken 1 deer this way, but I have also passed up MANY deer that I could have easily killed (mostly does and some small bucks). I set the blind up near a trail, with some thick cover behind me, and then set up the 10x4 ft blind in front of me in a semi-circle shape. As long as I keep my eyes open, wear camo, and watch the wind direction, I almost never spook or have deer spot me. Sometimes they will notice something and stare in my direction for a while, but they usually continue with what they are doing and ignore me.
