Options to RCBS trim mate

I don't have all the cash to get everything I need right now to get back into rifle reloading so have to eliminate some gear on the wish list. Most guys I know are using the rcbs trim mate with all the mounted brushes etc to clean up their cases. Is there a more economical option just to get started. I see fancy brushes and deburr tools but not sure which one (s)is best to buy. I'm reloading, 223. 243, 270 and 280.

Should be able to load for awhile without a trimmer. I'm on 4-5 firings with most of my 223 brass and I only have a small trim pile. Maybe 50 cases out of 1000+

Look at the Lee cutter and pilots. Most economical easy to use system there is. I used mine for years before getting a Lyman Universal.

The RCBS Trim mate is NOT a trimmer. It is a fancy power head to drive chamfering tools, neck brushes, and pocket cleaners.

It is handy but defiantly NOT needed. Just a plain handle and brushes and a hand-held chamfering tool are all you need.

Exactly but that is what the guys I know use and I don't have the money for. What make of brushes and hand chamfering tools should I buy seems there is so many now compared to years ago

I use my Trim mate mainly to chamfer inside / out and sometime to remove the crimped primer pocket but I don't use the ####ty RCBS tool for that. The Hornady tool is much better and faster.

Any of the case care kits should get you going. For example Cabelas Canada has a set listed online on sale right now for $34.99

Lyman, RCBS, Redding etc all make some sort of starter kit.

If you want to buy individual pieces you will need small and large primer pocked brushes, medium and small case neck brushes, a handle (which will work with the case neck and primer pocket brushes) and a deburring tool.

I have one and like it, but it's not necessary.
