ORA Annual Matches

Are there any openings for a Green Shot in F Class?

Those F'ers are already mumbbling "Bob Who?". You better get over to this side of the border and get them sorted out. You can ask for greenshot class, but you will have to shoot with a jacket and sling off your elbows. And you know those cadets won't cut you any slack.

The propane tank is full, so make sure you stop here for a night and a steak supper on the way. That is unless Norm is offering a lobster supper instead.

I plan on making it Sat and Sunday. I never tried a match before. Anything I need to know? I am landing there solo for F-Class.

F class will all be huddled together on the far end of the range. For some reason they seem to have an anti social disorder towards TR shooters and cadets:p This will be the last year for this type of behaviour and next year they will be sqadded in with the TR shooters and cadets.

The big difference between a practice and a match is, not only do you keep your own plot going, but you must also keep score for one other shooter while you are shooting. It's pretty easy with two or three to a target. You score for the person that shoots after you. Shooter on the right hand side always shoots first.

There will be 2 relays shot at each distance, you will be on one of them. So there is time to run back to your vehicle for more ammo, water etc.

Be at the range before between 7:30 and 8 am to pick up your match tickets at the stats tent.

Bring plenty of water. Lunch can be purchased at the range, hotdogs, hamburgers, pop, water etc. at a reasonable price.

Besides your rifle and ammo, you will need ear protection, shooting mat, pen, pencil and something like a clipboard or score book to write on, hat, any tools you may need, bolt flag, those are the basics.

Things that are nice to have with you, rain rear, umbrella for sun and rain, chair to sit on, small cooler to keep your water cold. And a cart of some kind to carry it all. You will be shooting multiple distances so you will need to move all your gear back each time.

Saturday ranges will be are all 2 sighters and 10 for score at 300 yards, 500 yards, 600 yards and 900 yards. this is the Saturday agg and is also part 1 of the Lt. Gov's match. The top 6 FO and top 4 F/TR and the top 40 TR shooters all shoot in the Lt.Gov's final on Sunday afternoon. The winners of this match is chaired off the range by his fellow competitors.

Ishodu you will not be the only new F-class shooter as I am also new to the game. I am all paid up and down for all three days. I do have a nice new rest from Bob and well built rilfe so if I do poor will say it was the wind!!! Maybe I can get Bob to shoot a few rounds under my name that might also help.

By the weather reports it looks like the ORA Annual Matches will be a little on the damp side. Live radar shows Camp Perry will be soggy too. Bring your rain gear.

I plan on being there tomorrow for the weekend and hoping for no rain.

Looking forward to my first match.
