What a great day!

We started the morning with mosquitoes buzzing around us and wet grass.
Just before we did the “modified prone” the grass dried out (too bad).

Things just clicked today and Tim K was able to get us out in record time.

I want to extend my thanks to all of you.
You’re a great group of people, all of you steeped up to help setup and take down the range.
Today we had two (soon to be CQB’ers) running the stats to Sandy.

Did anyone notice Tim K was wearing two different boots?

Just a reminder make sure to review CQB dates.

Good weather and a smooth match. We were finished shooting by 12:00. We had TWO stats runners. These guys did a great job.

If I have ever had a CQB without a mental error or an equipment issue, I don't remember it. I share today's glitches with you - not as an excuse - but in case you can learn from it.

First, I shot few pistol scores. My pistol kept falling out of the holster. It was a 1911 Commander, and I used a 1911 holster I have used many times without issue, but not today. The problem was the center of gravity. The Commander has a shorter barrel/slide, so is heavier in the grip area than a fulls sized pistol, so when I moved or lay down, it fell out. Next time I will use a Serpa. I want to shoot it again because it was shooting well.

The gas assembly flew apart on my rifle. It is held on by a cross pin you can see in this picture, at the front of the rear sight.

As the rifle warmed up, the pin walked out and then the red dot and gas assembly flew off. We found all the parts (thanks Greg) and I will reassemble with some kind of positive lock on the pin, or substitute it with a bolt and nut.

This is the only rifle I use with a red dot, and each time I do I am surprised at how well it does, even though there is no magnification.

Tim announced a change in match timing. We have an extra 2 seconds at 25 yards for the pistol. It is now just Very Difficult instead of Impossible. But the 15 yard match rapid fire is now 2 seconds shorter.

Tim has stickers on his clip board....

Practice Practice and more Practice!

Just make sure your blinds are closed the weapon is safe and mag's empty!

I go to my range and load only 1 round in and shot, reload reacquire target and repeat.

Whatever you do make sure your wearing your belt/vest whatever where you will have the mag's (muscle memory).
