A fun match was had yesterday with some great scores posted by the competitors. With a bit of firm guidance the group was able to finish up the match portion just as the rain began to fall. The rain spurred on the range teardown and cleanup and the last competitors left the range just after 12:30. Great day for shooting, with cool but not cold weather and no real wind to speak of during the match.

This bodes well for a great conclusion to the season, still four matches remain and space is available at all matches except for the championship which is standby only. Lots of first timers coming out for the matches and it is great to see them getting help as they get started off.

Thanks to everyone for making this a great day!

Cool weather. Great for shooting. Started to rain on the last relay of the last match.

A handful of first-timers today. This sport continues to grow. Everyone, including the newbies, made mistakes and still had a good time. My new AR-15 had a complete trigger failure in the last match. EDIT: It appears my safety works....

One short AR-15 was making a huge BOOM with a 3 foot fireball. The modified prone must have been interesting.

Tim kept us humming right along. I was driving home at 12:30.

Hey I found my range bag with my .40 magazines... at home!

Great day out, thanks Tim, Braydon, Eric and everybody else. The rain was good, washed all of the dust off of everything.

got a lot of fun today! And learn something very useful. thanks Tim, Braydon, Eric and everybody else. see you guys next time!

Another great match and a big thanks to Tim, Braydon, and all involved in running the match.

Here are the pics Sniper969 took during the day the last one is your huns head target JRW (QOR)

Good shooting JWR (QOR)!!!

Thank you for the pictures. I seldom see a picture of me shooting.

Two comments about shooting:

Because we not only shoot, but act as the Safety for a fellow shooter, we get twice he experience in every match. one thing I have noticed from my own shooting and just about every match in someone else's shooting is that you MUST thump the bottom of the rifle mag to make sure it is seated. This is especially true when loading a mag when the rifle bolt is closed, since this requires compressing the rounds and mag spring a bit.

When shooting pictures, a number of them are not properly focused. This happens for two reasons. The trigger was hit too fast. That is, with most cameras when you push the trigger part way, it focuses the camera and then beeps. then you can take the picture. with some cameras if you mash the trigger it will take the picture and skip the focus stage. I see this problem in a number of my pictures of this event. Like this one:

Another problem is the focus point. Cameras can be programmed to focus on the center of the picture, or on a wider view. The latter is better in this application. Very often we take a picture of two people and the center of the picture is the far side of the range, so the people are out of focus. Like this one:
