Good shooting folks. Special thanks to Tim for conducting the range. Fran on Stats, and Chris and Steve for AROing. We got lucky and pretty well beat the rain, it was a total downpour after awards. If you left something on the range please let me know. Good work on the range prep and tear down!

Thanks to all for running the Match. Every time our RSO would go to put his rain gear on I told him to stop and it worked. Of course the moment he gets in his car to go the heavens pouted forth. Balls. Thanks to Andrew for allowing me to shoot his target in the modified mud shoot and get all those Vs he lost. :nest::nest::nest: Lol jk. I will work harder next time to index on my own target.

It was worth the price of admission just to see that Desert Eagle doing rapid fire.

It was a nice safe day, you guys made our jobs easier, keep up the good work.

Steve

No rain until the prize giving was over and we were walking to our cars. Now that is what I call "Range Control".

If I carry an umbrella all day, it won't rain. If Tim puts on his rainsuit - same thing.

Last month I installed Burris red dot on a M&P9. The Burris is the cheapest of the red dots -about $210USD on ebay. I got the 3 MOA size dot. There is also a 8MOA dot, which might be good for a shotgun, but too big, I think, for any precision work.

For older eyes, this works perfectly. No need to focus on the front sight (I wear my regular glasses) and no need to align front and rear sights. Just put the dot on the target and pull.

My pistol accuracy has improved. In part because of the sight advantages and in part because I can see the sight jump off the bull if I mash the trigger. The feedback helps stop bad habits.

Last month I took a couple pistol courses at Milcun with Keith Cunningham. This involved 300 to 400 rounds a day. he would teach something and then we would practice over and over until we actually improved and learned something. This shooting was with my new red dot, so I learned to acquire the dot in the sight fairly quickly.

In the CQB match I noticed that for the first time I not only got off both mags of pistol ammo, but I finished with a slight bit of time to go - and I got the 2 to the body and 1 to the head. I have never done that before. Pistol was where I lost a lot of points in the past.

Here is the target with 2 body shots -in the bull. The head shot was a 5.

I can recommend the red dot. For anyone offer the age of 50, it would be a big help. OOOPS! Been advised rules do not permit pistol optics.

And I also recommend the pistol course taught at Milcun for an increase in speed and accuracy.

Thanks to Tim, Andrew, Steve, Chris, Fran and the score card runner for another safe well run match!

Had a mag feed issue in mod prone which messed me up and got me indexed on the wrong target for a few rounds, but otherwise finally getting in a better rhythm . Just have to bare down in the accuracy department.

Thanks for posting the pics Jim.

Hey guys, that was my first ever match and it was great great great! Very well organized and a great test of your skills. A shout out to all organizers and participants. I look forward to doing more!

It was another fun svetty day!
No time to snooze. We were pushing to avoid the rain but that made it more interesting.
I did curse the tractor ruts and lack of sun that hid the spent rounds. PICK UP BRASS....REPEAT
Thanks to all who helped out.
