Wow what a great way to end the year!

I would say this was one of the best winter events so far.
No snow blowing sideways, easy to walk on without sinking down a 1/2 foot.
Reasonably warm out, especially with a heated jacket!

Ganderite was out with a Hi-Point to finish off his different weapon per match and still be able to rank high on the list.

All the great people coming out to participate in any weather condition and not complain (well not much).
This is what "Service Conditions" is all about!

Have a Merry Christmas and a great and safe new year.

See you in 2015.

It was not very cold, and no wind to speak of, so quite comfortable. Everyone seemed to know how to dress for the occasion.

I wanted to wear a toque, so opted to use plugs instead of ear muffs. This was a mistake. I was comfortable, but could not hear the whistle to start or stop. What I should have done was put the electronic ear muffs on, on top of the toque and ear plugs, and cranked up the amplifier, so I would have had the best of both worlds. Noted.

Today I shot a Hi-Point carbine in 40 S&W. ($300 on EE) It handles CQB just fine. Probably a 100 yard gun, so CQB is well within its range. It was nice to have a gun without a muzzle brake. No snow and crap blowing back on my glasses. Shooting it is a very different feel. It is a blowback gun, so there is a slap of the heavy bolt, after the shot. Instead of "Bang!", I hear "Clang!". Those beside me probably thought I was shooting airsoft.

I discovered one weakness of the gun. The trigger guard is rather small and I had problems with the gloved trigger finger. I have shot it before in the simmer and did not notice any issue with the trigger.

Accuracy was good enough.

I used a M&P40, so I could shoot the same ammo in both guns. It worked well.

We only had 4 relays of shooters, so I did not have any free time for taking pictures. In fact, I missed my shooting relay when I took a pee break. Fortunately, I was able to shoot alongside on lane 8 and catch up. Thanks Tim.

My son came out to shoot with us. First time he made it this year. Have not yet seen the results, but I suspect he beat me.

There were a few newbies out to give CQB a try, and the usual cast of veterans.

Lots of fun today, the weather was just about right, Tim kept us hustling so nobody got cold. We brought a newbie guy out, he shoots IPSC with us. He had a blast, I think we have a new CQB member.

My favourite line is "Get into the modified prone position and when comfortable, load and make ready". If I were to wait for when I'm comfortable all contorted on the ground putting my entire right side to sleep, I'd never get loaded LOL.

A big hats off to Tim for giving us a great season, and Erich for being our MD and keeping everything organized and for Dave for yelling at us. I had a great year, and will be back next year for sure.
