ORA CQBm9 AAR - STATS

This was my first match, and thanks to everyone for making me welcome. Had a great time. Thanks to Larry who had the misfortune of getting paired with this newbie. He was great, a terrific help with all aspects. Special thanks to Tim and Dave for their welcome and for cutting this old fart some slack!

Special thanks to my safety who assisted a new shooter and lent me some 223. I will bring some better ammo next match.

My favourite thing about CQB is the community. Everyone's happy to be there, having a good time and happy to help other folks out.

Thanks to everyone involved with organizing and running the match.
It was my first CQB match and it was a great experience.

On the positive side my equipment worked quite well. No major issues with the rifle, pistol, mags, and my reloads .
But I really need to practice rifle and pistol mag changes and pistol accuracy.

Hopefully there will be some clinics in the spring.

And thanks to the senior shooter I was paired with for showing me the ropes.

Thanks for another great season Tim, Dave and everyone else who volunteers their very valuable time to help bring this event to life.

Great to see the new guys and gals out, keep on coming, it only gets better with practice. Look at the gear others use, and change yours to suit.

I hope to see us all out next year...

Sorry I missed the match. I am waiting for surgery in early December. My prostate is getting reamed out.

Then i will be able to sprint with you kids.

Failing that, I will bring my walker.

Insert a catheter and the run tube down your leg to ground level. Getting yee old prostate reamed out sucks on every level but somebody has to show the youngsters how to roll.

Daughter beat me again. We tied but she beat me on V bulls. I blame my rifle:p. Thanks to those who devote their time to making CQB happen.

I have had the catheter in for 24/7 for a month. The pee bag strapped to my leg gets in the way of everything. Modified prone is impossible. Walking is awkward. Sitting is uncomfortable.

I am installing mag pouches on the walker. See you in the spring.

Thats the spirit Jim. I look forward to seeing you on the field in the spring.

I'll be looking for you Jim, heal up!

Is there, or can someone post, an "Executive Summary" of exactly what the shooting format consisted of? I'd like to get involved, but as a newbie with no knowledge of what exactly is involved, I'd like to mull over an account of typical activities beforehand. Details as to number of rounds shot at each shooting situation, distances, target sizes, active movements involved, etc. is what I'm looking for.

I need to pick up a belt and a few belt-related items beforehand, but have the pistol, 4 mags, holster and slinged rifle with sufficient mags for CQB. If the distances are relatively short (100 yards and less), I guess Norc surplus 5.56 would suffice, or I could work up some reloads eventually.

Firing you off a PM.

Shots are well under 100 yards for CQB

Shooting is at 35 to 10 yards.

Video might help explain.

A video is worth 1000 words.
