The ORA will once again invite shooters in Southern Ontario to come to the range for a fun shooting competition.
The dates for Sporting Rifle (the new name for Vintage Rifle) matches are:
25 June – Winona
17 July – Amiens (Camp Borden)
14 - August – Amiens (Camp Borden)
11 September – Winona
Just about any rifle can be used at a Sporting Rifle shoot. SKS works well, as does any other milsurp. There is no rapid fire event, so even a single shot martin-Enfield will work.
The 100 yard stage is shot standing. 200 and 300 yards are shot prone, and you can rest your rifle on your shooting bag.
We shoot practice shots for 5 minutes at each distance, so you can adjust sights or find the right hold-off. Then we shoot 10 shots slow, aimed fire, then 10 shots snap shooting at 3 second exposures and then 10 shots at targets that walk back and forth. Great fun!
Your hunting rifle would be a good choice, Good practice.
Bring your wife, girl friend (not both) or kids.
