We are a go for this PR Match 4 on Saturday 19 July 2014 at Base Borden. Any updates are going to be posted HERE on this thread, nowhere else. So keep an active eye on this thread.

Wow, it even says so on the www.ontariorifleassociation.ca calendar (go and have a look). That's awesome! We are on the same page! (it's a metaphor...)

There have been some complaints about how the ORA website is not accurate (enough). It's a tough, annoying, and thankless job working with that software trying to keep it current through different levels of coordination. It's much easier and straightforward for ME, the PR Match Director to update things quickly, effectively, and timely right here on CGNutz. My apologies, but it works and this means works well. Just have a look at Service Rifle and Service CQB events put on by the ORA and my colleagues, we have large numbers (read: revenues turned in) and a super friendly communty(ies) built up over there. I was/still am part of that, and now I am HERE! :D The smallest match in CQB hovers around 40 shooters. Most of the matches we host at Connaught Ranges in Ottawa need from 12 to 15 targets (multiply by 4 relays). I'll let you do the Math.... :)

Disclaimer:

This is an ORA event run by volunteers and that includes ME! Nobody is getting paid for the delivery of said events. Let's get that out of the way to minimize complaints right now! I ain't getting a penny and I'm giving up my time (read: no road trip out West this summer, and I'm giving up on 10 clinics out there. Don't get me started)

When: Saturday 19 July 2014

Timings: Meet at 0700 to 0730

Where: CFB Borden's Mons Range, Target butts area, look for my Grey Tacoma Truck

Cost: ORA Members = $25, Non-Members: $25 + Guest Fee $45 = $70.00

How to Register:

1) Send me a message that you are going to shoot this match.
2) Pay me in cash at Mons Range

Hey Barney, thanks for introducing yourself at Cabela's today & the invite to the ORA Precision Rifle Match 4. I'll see you there on the 19th! :D

Bring lots of water to drink, never hurts to stay hydrated all the time. :D

Packing up the score cards right now. Batteries for radios are charged. Stacking up the medals!

We will have fun!

Cheers,
Barney

As usual, awesome shoot. Had a blast. I really need to fix my dud issue, it's hard to score well when 20% of bullets don't fire lol

Great weather we had especially that wind that started for the longer ranges. I'm already looking forward to august shoot. Mark me down Barney. Thanks to Barney and john as usual.

Excellent day out, LOTS of high scores....makes for very exciting matches with so many teams that close. Congrats to all winners and thanks to John, Barney and guys running the butts for another well oiled machine.

Awesome match. My gun shoots like a dream. I just need more practice, especially 400 yards Mover.

Thank you so much, Barney for your aid and instruction where to aim at 400 yards target.

Took lots of pics and some vids. I'll go through them and post tomorrow night. Wife has too much for me to do now I "lost" a day shooting.

Great day. Got home at 8pm and just collapsed...

Well I did promise to have the results up last night, but my darling wife :D invited company over for cards. I do have to show a mature side once in a while. ;)

Okay, I'm back from Toronto on Sunday night and Kombayotch alerted me to my software's problems adding up Oleg S and his Vbull count. It's all sorted out now.

Then SeanD and ZibiT's final 2 matches were not saved, so I re-entered them, saved them and did some cut and pasting and re-uploading them correctly. Go and have a look.

Here is what I wanted to type out, the final Standings:

Master Class
477 KrisD & JohnF
473 KenT & Ryan Mc
472 TrevorM & Bruce C
464 DaveD & Steve VK
449 ZibiT & Sean D

Expert Class
434 Terry P & Tomas B
426 Steve L & Richard D
418 Mike T & Denny G
397 Drago A & Brian M
395 Warren B & Mark I

Rookie Class
392 Andrew Mc & Tylor T
390 Paul B & Minos L
364 Oleg S & Paul R
347 Harry K & Richard W

Pocketknife Draw Winner: HarryK..... Lucky basturd! :)

I have much to be thankful for:

* JB our RSO who made for a smooth match and transition to clean up! Yahoo, it was great. I did not realize that it was not ONLY me who boasted of $3.00 a bottle (40 pounder) of duty free rye back when I was deployed on 1978 Summer tour of Cyprus peacekeeping. He beat me out by $1.22 when his 26 pounders ran only $1.78 a bottle. Thanks for the walk down amnesia lane.....

That's for those of you who cannot believe I was younger 36 years ago, single, foolish, and invincible as a dumb 19 year old... :D

* 693 Precision/Tactical who provided a give away present awarded to the youngest shooter on the range!

* My dependable butts officers, MikeT and HarryK who always step up to the plate. Speaking of throwing down... any more of you wanna get trained as a Butts O ??? You know that I ain't gonna live forever and I might get hit by a drunk on Hwy 400 while commuting to work in Barrie, ON, pursuing my employee discount. :D

* The great shooters who remind me about the superior marksmanship skills demonstrated, as well as their great sportsmanship today. Thanks a bunch.

* The helpful shooting community of 28 shooters who helped me set up the butts and then provided superior clean up after the match while HarryK and I were doing stats, hey, thanks HarryK, we got 'er done!

* All you shooters who laughed at my stale jokes and showed me the love! I'm recovering from my previous job and hopefully I'll be delivering the dope soon once I get the call from the medicinal dope farm. ;)

* The new shooters who put up with my coaching and more stale jokes as we talked their booolits into the figure 14's

* Our Auditory challenged shooter who brought more opportunities to reach out to THAT portion of the shooting community; you have taught me how to run a match to said challenged shooters, and helped me raise my shooting game / coaching/ mentoring/ spotting. Just when I thought I was a competent spotter, along you come to help me step up my game. Warmest thanks. :)

* HIS spotter, MikeT deserves recognition. Between MikeT and I (on the Vortex Viper HD spotting scope), we were able to spot and provide feedback and improvement (booolit placement) to our auditory challenged shooter. Judging by the results our challenged shooter bumped up his scores significantly, experienced personal success (I'm glad to be witness to that improvement). Now we have ONE more happier shooter in the world. :) It's all good.

Cheers and thanks for yesterday's good times!

Barney

Anyways, I still got lots to be thankful for!

Great match! Thanks Barney!

I think I'll bring the shooting mat next time. Forgot about the ant hills on Mons East. They get a bit agressive when you lay on them...

Best Saturday Ever. Maybe not, but what a great time! Full yet pathetically inadequate thanks to Barney and John once again. Looking forward to my next one! Keep shooting till then. No war wound photos from me (Jeebus, man!), cheers,
