howdy, I'm going to participate in the service condition matches @ Connaught this wknd. Does anyone know if there is any time allocated for sight adjustments and if so, at what distance?
Cheers,
filip

Hey Filip:

Glad that you can make it out for the SR match this weekend. You are in for one learning curve! Really STEEP!

Remember, I don't shout at you (in the butts....) I SCREAM  at you! :D LOL

Seriously... you got a 100m/yd zero already?

Cheers,
Barney

Hi Barny,

Yeah, I zeroed my Elcan zeroed @ 100...but I'm leave'n it about 3" high. Figure that will translate to more or less POA @ 200m. Just wanted to confirm...but haven't had a chance to get out to a NCRRA practice this spring yet.
See you Sat.
Cheers,
Filip

Don't know what ammunition you are using, or what barrel length, but 3" high at 100might be a bit more elevation than you need for 200.
I'm sure that there will be folks there who can give you the come-ups for the different ranges. Should be able to get on with the allocated sighters.
Are you going to use the elevation calibrations on the sight, or go with the gate up, and count clicks? If you have a 100 zero, you should be able to apply the necessary elevation corrections.
Do you have wind charts for your ammunition, and a washer on a string tied to your left wrist?

Keep dry in the rain? Well, a rain suit is a start. A light poncho/tarp is useful to put over your gear. Ziplock bags are really useful for keeping scorecards dry. But don't worry about getting wet, or waste time trying to stay dry.

Hungry - I'll be at Connaught Fri-Sat-Sunday for the MilCun wind reading course. See you there.

My suggestion is to turn down your dial by 2 clicks. Clockwise - 2 clicks. Start with 6 o'clock hold at 500.

Assuming you are running a C7 equivalent.

Comeups for 62 grainers on a 100m zero is +0-1 clicks at 200m.
300m is +3 from 200m.400 is +5 from 300 with a 6 o'clock hold and 500m is another 5 up from 400 with a 6 o'clock hold.
For CQB at 100m and 75m use the 100 zero.At 50m use your 300m zero and at 25m use your 500m zero.

Now I do KNOW that my rain gear works with the vest and magazines, etc. Only one way to find out... of course it happens to be the miserable way. :D

The consolation had to be the smiles at the end of the shoot at the awards ceremony! All good learning !

I was quite satisfied with my rain gear, new rain jacket. Speaking of learning - did the wind reading course, learned how to use the EZ Graf. Works a LOT better for me than pencil and paper. Shot a real nice 50x50 at 900m with a good V count Sunday morning. Group was slightly over 1 minute. Going to make up some acetate templates for the sniper matches.
