Dearest rifle marksman, we are back! Service Rifle with the ORA resumes a new normal (ish) season in 2025. As Maritimer is not available, I shall continue as the interim Service Rifle match director by acquiescence.

Registration
June 28 Service Rifle Practice
June 29 Service Rifle Match
July 26 Service Rifle Match
August Service Rifle Match
September National Service Conditions Championship

August match is still kind of TBD. Don't ask me, I put my request for dates in at the start of December. I'm just getting confirmation of the schedule at the same time as the Annual General meeting was being held. It's been a busy couple of weeks, and hasn't left me much time to actually shoot.

June practice date shall be a walk back, and likely movers practice as time allows. Practice is $10 for members. Bring lots of ammo, at least 200 rounds. I'll work out the exact details closer to the date. Spotting scopes and binoculars are an asset. There will NOT be a run-down.

June, July, and August Matches
$50 for members, $90 for guests
0830 Match briefing in the Butts
1500 Range clean up
1600 march out

Service Rifle is a physically and mentally challenging rifle shooting competition. There will be individually indicated sighting shots at 200, 300, and 500 yards. You should bring a rifle that is zero'd and that you have known data for targets at 100, 200, 300, 400, and 500 yards. There will be Snap, Rapid, and Moving targets. There will be run-downs. You must carry your rifle and ammunition with you. You should be prepared to leave everything else that you need for the day in a backpack in the target butts. You must bring food and water. Eye and Ear protection are mandatory.

Note the calibre restrictions on the range. Note that hand loads are permissible again if you follow all the rules and file all the appropriate paperwork.

NSCC is being planned for September, to be held at CFB Borden and hosted by the ORA. To this end, expect to shoot parts or all of the NSCC COF as we prepare for Nationals.

As we have trained 50 new Range Safety Officers this year, Diesel and I will not be signing for the ranges at Service Conditions events for the ORA. If there are insufficient volunteers this year, the matches will not take place. We will need Range Safety Officers, Assistant Range Safety Officers, and Butts Officers. I think SP5WAT has kindly volunteered to do most, if not all, of the stats.

Sights, Safety, Prepare to move
