A note of Congratulations.
The ORA ISU Match was held today on base Borden in what turned out to be a beautiful sunny day (No rain as forcast)
Congratulation to the F Class winner Heinz V. who shot a PERFECT 600!!!!
Thats 60 rounds in 3- 20 round relays in some VERY interesting winds and
managed to keep ALL in the 10 ring!!!!GREAT shooting.
My apologies to the other classification winners for not remembering their names at this time ,who also deserve notes of congrats as well.
Watch the ORA web for full match results.
TOO long a day and drive .
Gnight.

I'll second Heinz's efforts. This wasn't simply a cake-walk the winds weren't 25 mph but there was plenty enough to throw you out of the ten ring. The X used on this target was 1 1/2" across...

We had a great turn out for the event and a special thank you to Sierra Bullets for the bullets they donate as prizes for this match!

a few other notes... I saw some new shooters but there could have been a lot more. For the folks who hang around in gunnutz that are local and you want to try something interesting you should attempt to shoot this match. It's held every year and you can find it listed on the match schedule on the ORA website. Mike keeps the website pretty up-to-date with any changes that occur.

This is a 300 yard shoot so most bolt action rifles can reach this distance. If they can't well maybe it's time for a change?

One of the new shooters was a cadet who had come back from a two year layoff from shooting TR. He was very welcomed and Gord spent a fair bit of time with him and he was shooting one of the clubs rifles. In addition I think he had some of the clubs donnated FREE ammo.

I also noticed another shooter who has turned to the dark side. For years I've seen this guy shooting black powder. I still believe he shoots that discipline but he now has a rig that's fully capable of shooting all our distances right out 1000. I noticed the rifle because it's a full blown f-class rig. So I ask him the details. The stock was an Ian Robertson stock, chamber was a 6.5. So I ask him how'd you come up with it? Well I sold two black powder rifles!

Where there's a will there's a way! I don't think for one minute he regrets his decission. He came fourth in the shoot in f-open! His name is also John and I'd like to congratulate him on his fine shooting and I know he'll be out to more matches.

I've been saying this all along... trade off some rigs you are not using if that's what it takes to get in the game.

The format for this shoot was simple, bring your gear to the line and you single string for five sighters and 20 shots for score, three times during the day... no rocket science here, no two up or three up. Someone else sits beside you to track your scores for your record shots so you can fully concentrate on what you are doing. When you're finished the next guys moves to the line. I think we had 5-6 targets up and running in the pits...

When the smoke clears there's a chance you can win some Sierra bullets to boot. Ya they're 155 palma bullets and if you can't use them you can barter, trade, sell them immediately to the TR guys... We even had a special prize, trophy for new guys who came out...

We had a half and half spread of TR shooters and f-class shooters for a total of about 25 shooters for the event... not bad!

Spend less time on the keyboard and more time at the range...

I'd come out but I need to know when the F class events are being held. All the schedule shows is ISU match, but noobs like myself don't know what classes are shooting in that match. I would have come out for sure!

Sierra shoot

Was at the Sierra shoot at Borden last weekend. Had a great time, met alot of interesting shooters, some reall good people there. Got to see some of the nice rifles the guys (and girls) were shooting. Watched Heinz shoot, he did great, watched John do his last 20 and score 200 on it. Was facinated watching the TR guys, man that looks tough.
This was my first match and thankfully it was only 300 yds, One of the organizers put me in a group to shoot and someone else scored while explaining how the scoring worked. I had a good day shooting , luckily it wasn't any longer my score was dropping each set, laff.
All said and done I managed a 579.9 which gave me a first place. I went home with a pack of Sierra palmas and I was the new guy that got the trophy.
Thanks to all from the shoot who not only explained the procedures but happily answered my questions.

Also thanks to Long range canuck, mystic player and Maynard for sending me all the helpfull reading material and web sites, I think it helped. I'm definately hooked now and can't wait to go again.
John D. is running a blackpowder shoot this weekend at Borden and i believe its at 300,600 and 800, other class shooters were invited to shoot along side while the match runs.

Mike.

Ice-pick... that's the spirit hope to see more you in the coming matches. You did well indeed!

Heinz shooting clean at all yardages in the ISU has got to be some kind of record in the ORA... I'm wondering if anybody else in our PRs has managedto do it? Anybody know?

Sam Mudridge shot a perfect 600 in F(F) back in 2000 with an old ORA Sportco.

PH Racing, all TR matches, ISU, Long Range, Range Fund, or just about any other day at Borden will have room for F Class shooters. Don't be afraid to e-mail the match organizer or ORA Sec, if in doubt.

Shelldrake, all prone.
