Would like to get some clarification on what's going on in Ottawa.
Despite being told the ORA was not running any SR in Ottawa there were two SR competitions in Ottawa this summer run by the ORA. July 9/10 and Aug 6/7.
Only reservists attended. They paid $40 each to the ORA rep. They were given ORA medals for those that placed first.
The actual members of the ORA (those civies who paid in full) were told these were military only matches. But then how come the ORA ran the match just like previous years? And why did the reservists have to pay $40 to the ORA if it was a military only match? I think once you charge a fee it's your competition. Someone explain if I am wrong on this.
A lot of questions. Doubly confusing is that the ORA released a new guest policy this year that said no guests were allowed to shoot ORA matches. These reservists that paid $40 are not full members as far as I know.
With all the complaints about Borden range time being taken away, if Connaught was made available then why wouldn't they have allowed it's own members, who paid for an annual membership, to compete? And if they were allowing reservists to come on and pay as guests then why not allow other guests the same opportunity?
Thoughts?
