ORA Winter Program

Trevor,
Just pick out the things you "need" to make good ammo and buy it. Your #### won't fall off if you don't clean primmer pockets. And you won't convince me that by doing so will gain you any V's or points at 1000 yards.
Neck turning is another one, very few target rifle shooter turn necks but a lot of F'er do. You can spend $300-$400 on a Gracey or Girard trimmer or go low tech for a hand crank trimmer for less than $100. It all comes down to how much your time is worth to you and the volume that you are loading.
What you do to match prep your cases (sorting, trimming neck turning, primer pocket etc) is only about 70% of your results the other 30% is part or your mental preparation knowing that your ammo is better than the guy shooting next to you.

Trevor,
I don't know anyone who started out "with it all" and most like me who acquired over the years.(Yep wasted a lot of money on gadgets)
Some equipment is invaluable and other stuff is just a waste of money so research before spending.A tool that is inaccurate and unrepeatable in measuring does more harm than not tool at all.
The "Situation is the Boss,The Results is the Judge" and Targets are real time judges.
Gord O
PS I have a junk box filled with useless inaccurate tools that I can sell cheap!

Thank You!

Bob,

Just wanted to say thank you again for a great class yesterday on reloading, and for the excellent program that you and the other instructors and presenters have put on for us over the past few months.

I really appreciate the knowledge that all of you have been so willing to take time to share with us, and I am looking forward to range day at Borden in April where I can work on the practical part of going long range.

Best,
Dan

Thanks gents, it was our pleasure.

The class was keen and I look forward to seeing you guys in April for the fun part.:)

I'll tentatively re-book the series for next year at the next BRRC director meeting and give you a heads up in the late fall.

Best series ever Bob, well done. :D

Would you do a stand-alone reloading course in the fall? Plenty of interest around BRRC.

Thanks and yes I would do a reload class for BRRC, you supply the lunch and I will bring my bag of tricks.

Do you happen to have the dates and info for the two days at Base Borden? I just want to make sure I have all the right info for those two big days.

Start time is 0900 on April 24 at 200 and 300 yards.

200 to get zeros and relax a bit followed by a 200 yard Precision shoot as per NSCC rules. Not scored. 2 targets, 8 second exposure x five exposures.

Back to 300, get on paper. A F class shoot on a DCRA short range face, 2 plus 15 for score, convertible sighter's. Followed by a 300 yard Precision shoot, Agony snaps, 2 sighter's and 10 for score.

Lunch in there somewhere and an award for top score in the F class and Precision shoots at 300 yards.

I would expect 50 rounds minimum, better to hedge the bet and bring 75.

See you guys there, looking forward to this.:)

May 15 is the last shoot, stay tuned for course of fire.

ORA Borden Range Day

Thanks allot to everybody involved for putting on a great day at CFB Borden, I really enjoyed how much was covered, I left much more educated in every aspect and the instructors were just amazing. It's hard to chose what I liked the most as everything was very fun, however two things that I did enjoy allot was shooting the different disciplines and getting to see what myself and my gun are capable of shooing at a distance of 500 yards. That was my first time shooting over 200 yards so I can hardly wait to try 800 yards next month, thanks again and here are a few pics I was able to snap when I was had sometime.

More fun than a barrel of monkeys!

Until yesterday I had never shot beyond 100 yards, so to get the opportunity to go as far back as 500, and still hit the target! Most excellent!

I loved the entire day, and can't say enough thank you's to all the instructors, and range officials that helped out by volunteering for the day.

Hope to get out there again soon.

Agreed.

Great day. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Great weather, great instruction, great shooting by everyone.

See you all in may.

Sounds like we have some new precision shooters in this bunch! It was a great day on the range yesterday -- even though I was only there for part of it :( -- glad everyone had a good time and a good shooting experience.

It will be interesting to see this shooting season unfold with this group.

All are very skilled and they want to learn, glad I do not shoot .308 in Precision or F/TR.

Your part may have seemed short Abbey but trust me it was an important part.
