Hello, is there anyone who can share their experience with the Ontario Rifle Association?
I had invested in a long range f open rifle and now can't seem to find anywhere to shoot it. I also would love to compete once I get my practice in.

I know ORA does scheduled shoots at longer ranges but how often?

I do know you need to be a member of your provincial association to be able to compete.

I'm in south western Ontario, Hamilton Niagara area and theres no where to shoot beyond 200 yards

starting to feel I invested a lot a money for nothing
 
Locally there are some Swiss / Practice Days scheduled at Winona (Grimsby/Hamilton)
We shoot at 300m .
Usually a few F Class or TR shooters show up.
They could probably give you an idea about the matches and other longer range practice opportunities at Borden or other DND ranges.

Given the current situation at Mons Range at CFB Borden, your only choice for long range in Ontario is in Ottawa. Much too far for weekend shooting. You might want to investigate F Class competitions/long range practices in the neighbouring states. Your travel time might be considerably shorter.

Rumour is that upgrades at Mons are almost complete and it might be available this year?

Foxfield is at Borden.
Open field , no butts.
 
Washtenaw Sportsmans Club in Ypsilanti Township, MI host 2 'mid-range' matches a month. One is called the 'Long Range Prone Match' 200-600 yards, 5 rounds at each distance total of 30 rounds. The other match is called 3X600 Mid-Range, F-Class and High Power Prone. 3 relays at 600 yards, 20 round string, unlimited sighters for each relay, you would need around 80-100 rounds depending on how many sighters you decide to use.

I find the 'long range prone match' is good for test your loads and seeing how well your loads will group from 200-600 yards. The mid-range match gives you alot of trigger time at one distance.
 
tinymike66, Mons range at CFB Borden is now open. There is a long range practice scheduled at Mons range on Sunday the 22nd. I was informed that the revised CFB Borden shooting schedule should be posted later on the weekend.
 
Just got an email update. In the morning precision rifle will be holding short range practice, and in the pm will be long range. Also, the next long range practice dates on Mons are set for Sunday, July 29 and Wednesday afternoon, August 1.
