They can be in the summer months.
Especially if its really dry and some idiot goes firing them off into the bush.

I've seen entire training area ranges burn for days because of initially small fires started from a couple bursts of 4 ball one tracer in the really dry summer months up here.

That's not inherent, that's a screw up.
 
Write to NRCAN-ERD, maybe they will reverse their decision, with enough pressure.

We had 45 million rds of tracer lined up when they made that announcement, alas.

Is there an explanation as to inherently unsafe? As in fire hazard or due to composition?

Just curious if they provided more than just the term.

I understand what your saying and the example that i will use is my winchester centennial 66 rifle, it has never been shot and i don't intend to shoot it, but what your saying is there is no point in me buying that rifle if i have no intention of shooting it? Some things are just unique and fun to collect. I started this thread looking for tracers, i have absolutely no use for them i just wanted something unique to collect. My intention with black tip rifle rounds was to make some youtube videos with them, how many cinder blocks will it go through, how man phone books will it go through, how man jugs of water will it go through. Im not trying to make it big on youtube, i just want to have some fun and document the outcome.

definitely wont make it big on YouTube, the kids watching that wont even know what those books made of phone even are.
 
I got some tungestun rnds before from a 7.62x51 random pallete the rnds had a very slim core that when the bullet hit the regular FMJ (copper bimetal) would expose a rod on impact. In many cases when shooting 2" steel a pencil like lead core would be sticking into the steel while the outter jacket was pretty much destroyed on impact. Remind me of a sabot rnd but looked like a regular FMJBT Rnd on the outside was 15yrs ago so i dont have a reference rnd too look at anymore

Was copper washed ammunition that came from Israel with K98's
 
250gr .338LM Black tip is awesome. Hard to find though... not really much demand for .338 AP because even basic .338LM ball ammo does a good job against all but the hardest steels.

Cuts through 1/2" AR500 like butter out to 300m at minimum... really impressive stuff with that tungsten carbide penetrator. Left a clean 20 cal hole through steel that .50BMG ball doesn't even scratch.
